This page allows you to select a component work order for planning. Tell me more.
Select the “Plan/Request material for Component Work Order” link under the “Component Work Order” business component.
The “Select Work Order” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date and time fields are displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box if you know the CWO number for which the material and resources must be planned:
Comp. Work Order # |
The number identifying the component work order for which the resource, employee assignments and material planning must be done (Alphanumeric, 18). |
Select the “Assign Resources” link at the bottom of the page to assign resources to the component work order.
Select the “Assign Employees” link at the bottom of the page to assign employees to the component work order.
Select the “Plan/Request Material” link at the bottom of the page to plan the material for the component work order.
Select the “View Material Request” Link at the bottom of the page to view the material request associated to the CWO.
To search for a component work order
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for component work order. Data entry in the following fields is optional:

Maintenance Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the maintenance type to which the CWO belongs. The system lists the options “Inspection”, “Repair”, “Overhaul” and “Others” . |
Comp. Work Order # |
The number of the component work order for which you wish to assign employees, resources and plan for materials (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the CWO number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all CWO numbers that are similar to the number entered here. |
Component # |
The number identifying the component against which the CWO was raised (Alphanumeric, 90). You can enter the component number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all CWO numbers whose values are similar to the value entered here. |
Part # |
The part number to which the component belongs (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the part number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all CWO numbers whose values are similar to the value entered here. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter for which the component work order has been raised (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all component work orders raised for the specified ATA chapter. |

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the CWO. The system lists the following options: |

User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user status of the CWO. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes of the type “User Status” defined in the “Add Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves the CWO number of the user status specified here. By default, this field is left blank. |
Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve the CWOs irrespective of their user status. | |
CWO category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the CWO category. The system lists all the ‘active’ quick codes of type CWO categories defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves the CWO number of the category specified here. By default, the field is left blank. |
Leave the field blank to retrieve the CWO irrespective of the CWO category. | |
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center that is responsible for the execution of the component work order. The system lists all the ‘active’ work centers that are associated with the login organizational unit and for which the login user has access rights. The system retrieves the CWO number of the work center specified here. By default, this field is left blank. |
Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve the CWOs irrespective of their work center. | |
Planned Date: From |
The date on which the component work order is planned for start (Date Format). The system lists all the CWOs that have planned start dates on or after the date entered here. |
Planned Date: To |
The date on which the component work order is planned for completion (Date Format). The system lists all the CWOs that have planned end dates on or before the date entered here. |
Note: Ensure that the date entered in the “Planned Date: From” is not later than the date entered in the “Planned Date: To” field.
Work Scope # |
The number identifying the work scope against which the component work order has been raised (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all component work orders raised against the work scope number entered here. |
Material Plan Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the material status of the component work order. The system displays the following options: “Reserved”, “Partially Reserved”, “Requested”, “Partially Requested”, “Hard Allocated”, “Partially Hard Allocated”, “Issued”, “Partially Hard Allocated” and “Not Estimated”. The system leaves this field blank by default. |
Job Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the job type of the component work order. The system displays the following options: “Component”, “Receipt-Inspection”, “Facility”, “Piece Part”, “Make”, “Project” and “Miscellaneous”. The system retrieves component work orders belonging to the job type specified here. This field is set to “Component” by default. |
Make/Piece Part # |
The number of the make part of piece part for which the component work order has been raised (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves component work orders raised for the part number entered here. |
CWO Priority |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate the priority for execution of the component work order you want to work with. The drop-down list displays all priorities defined in the Common Masters component, having both Active and Inactive status. The system retrieves the component work orders that are assigned the priority that you specify. |
If you have left all the fields blank, the system retrieves all the component work orders created in the login organizational unit with status “Fresh”, “Scheduled” or “In progress”.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results.
The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

The system displays “Yes” or “No” to indicate whether resources have been already assigned to the component work order. |

Material Planning Status |
The material planning status of the component work order, which can be “Reserved”, “Partially Reserved”, “Requested”, “Partially Requested”, “Hard Allocated”, or “Not Estimated”. |

The textual description of the task associated to the component work order. |

The textual description of the component work order. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the component work order for creating material request, assigning resources, employees and for planning material.
Enter the following in the “Material Request Creation Option” group box:
Part Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part type for which a material request has to be created. The system lists all the part types as defined in the “Logistics Common Master” business component. If you leave this field blank, the system generates the material request for all the part types. The system leaves this field blank by default. |
Click the “Create Material Request” pushbutton to create the material request for the part type.
Note: The system allows for the creation of material request for component work orders in “Fresh” status, only if the Material Request for CWO/ Tasks in ‘Fresh’ Status in the Set Options activity is set to “Allowed”.
Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent and you can configure further processing of this document in the "Workflow Management" business component.
Note: If the issue route for component work order is set as “Issue directly against work order” in the “Inventory Set Options” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component, the system will not allow you to create a material request.
The system generates multiple material requests, if more than one record is selected. The material request is created in the category as defined in the “Set Options” activity of the current component.
If the “Distinct Material Request for Main Core” option is set as “Required” in the “Set Options” activity, then the system automatically generates separate material requests for regular parts.
The system sets the status of the material request to “Authorized”. The class of the material request is set as “Maintenance” and the type of the material request is set as “Planned”.
If you have selected the “AOG” option for the work order and if the planned start date is earlier than the system date, the system sets the priority for the material request as “AOG”. Otherwise, the priority is set as “Normal”.
For component work orders for which “AOG” option is not selected, the priority of the material request is always set to “Normal”.
The numbering type for the material request depends upon the option settings in the “Component Work Order” business component.
Note: The system does not automatically generate material request for those Regular parts that are “Not Effective” or “Conditional Effective” for the parent part/component in the CWO.
To proceed, carry out the following:
Select the “Assign Resources” link at the bottom of the page to plan resources required to the selected component work order.
Select the “Assign Employees” link at the bottom of the page to assign employees to the selected component work order.
Select the “Plan/Request Material” link at the bottom of the page to plan the material for the selected component work order.
Note: The “Plan/Request Material” page will launch only if the transient status of the selected component work order is not “Hold”.
Select the “View Material Request” Link at the bottom of the page to view the material request associated to the CWO.
Selecting CWO for planning – An overview
Component work orders that are in the “Fresh”, “Scheduled” or “In Progress” status, can be retrieved in this page, for planning. If you know the CWO number, you can directly enter it. Otherwise, you can carry out a search based on the CWO number, maintenance type, part number, component number, CWO status, user status, CWO category, work center, work scope number, material plan status, job type, make / piece part number and the range of planned start and end dates. Details such as component work order number, task number, part number, serial number of the component, work center, make / piece part number, make / piece part description, CWO status, task status, maintenance type, task description and CWO description are displayed. The system displays whether the resources and employees have already been assigned to the CWO or not, and whether material has already been planned for the CWO.
