Component Maintenance Program - An overview

Pages inside the activity

In this activity you can view the part numbers associated with the maintenance process. The three fundamental maintenance processes are “Hard-Time”, “On-Condition” and “Condition Monitoring”.

The components which can be discarded after a life limit, or overhauled and restored to “Overhauled” or  “Like New” condition are defined under “Hard -Time” maintenance process. For such items, in the Component Maintenance Program (CMP), the schedules for overhaul, and a time limit after which the component has to be discarded are defined in the CMP.

Periodic inspections are carried out for components for which the maintenance policy being followed is “On-Condition”. Based on the experience of the inspector, a decision is taken whether to continue with the component in service, or to repair or overhaul the component. The CMP provides the inspection schedules for such items.

Under “Condition-Monitoring”, the component is operated to deterioration, and the operational data like Meantime Between Unscheduled Removal (MTBUR) and Meantime Between Failures (MTBF) are collected. Based on further analysis of this data, the maintenance activity to be performed is arrived at. The CMP can be used for tracking engineering order (EO) executions for such components.
