Set Part Maintenance Process – A summary of the activity
The maintenance process for a part indicates the maintenance policy that the company follows for the part number. The part numbers can be associated with the maintenance process that is being followed. This is an indicative information and not used in validations later. For example, if “Hard-time” is selected for a part number, the system does not force the user to define schedules in the Component Maintenance Program.
The three fundamental maintenance processes are “Hard-Time”, “On-Condition” and “Condition Monitoring”.
Under “Hard-Time’, you can define the components which could be discarded after a life limit, or it can be overhauled and restored to “like new” or “overhauled” condition. For such items in the component maintenance program (CMP), schedules for overhaul and a time limit after which the component has to be discarded can be defined in the CMP.
Components for which the maintenance policy being followed is “On-Condition”, periodic inspections are carried out. Based on the experience of the inspector, a decision is taken whether to continue with the component in service, or to repair or overhaul the component. The CMP can provide the inspection schedules for such items.
Under “Condition Monitoring”, the component is operated to deterioration, and the operational data like “Meantime Between Unscheduled Removal” (MTBUR), “Meantime Between Failures” (MTBF) are collected. Based on further analysis of this data, the maintenance activity to be performed is arrived at. The CMP can be used in tracking the engineering order (EO) executions for such components.
In this activity you can associate the part numbers with the maintenance processes. The system updates the details and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date. The system saves the selected parts against the maintenance process for the login user.
