This page allows you to modify the UOM Information. Tell me more
Select the “Edit UOM” link under the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component.
The “Edit UOM ” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the “User Preferences” business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for the UOM you want to modify. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
UOM Code |
The code identifying the UOM to be modified (Alphanumeric, 10). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the UOM codes that are similar to the value entered here. |
Status |
The status of the UOM to be modified. Use the drop-down list box to select the status. The system displays “Active” by default. |
UOM Description |
The description of the UOM to be modified (Alphanumeric, 80). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the UOM, whose descriptions are similar to the value, entered here. |
UOM Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the unit of measurement. The system lists all "active" values defined in the “Quick Code” for the quick code type "UOM Category" .The system displays “Blank” by default. |
Note: Leave the fields blank if you want to retrieve all the UOMs defined in the “Central Reference List”.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to retrieve the search results.
The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline based on the search criteria entered:

Enter the following fields to modify the UOM details:
UOM Description |
The description of the UOM (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. |
UOM Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the unit of measurement. The system lists all "active" values defined in the “Quick Code” for the quick code type "UOM Category" .The system displays “Blank” by default. |
Fractions Allowed |
Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes” if the UOM can be used with fractions while recording transactions. |
Status |
The status of the UOM. Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Inactive” if the UOM has to be inactivated. |

Note: The UOM that is in “Inactive” status cannot be used again
You cannot inactivate a UOM which is involved in a Part Independent or a Part Dependent Conversion.
You cannot inactivate a UOM, in which a part number is purchased, stocked or sold.
Created By |
The login id of the user who created the UOM. |
Create Date |
The date on which the UOM was created. |
Last Modified by |
The login id of the user who modified the UOM details last. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the UOM was last modified. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the UOM for deletion or for entering the part independent conversion details.
Click the Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the UOM code selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit UOMs” pushbutton to save the modifications made.
The login user id and the server date are updated in the “Last Modified by” and the “Last Modified Date” fields in each row, which has been modified.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Part Independent Conversions” link from the bottom of the page to modify the conversion factors.
Modifying UOM Information – An overview
This page allows you to modify the UOM Information. You can carry out a search using the UOM code, the UOM description and the status of the UOM. The system will retrieve all the UOMs matching the search criteria entered. You can modify the UOM description and decide whether fractions can be allowed for the UOM while recording transactions. You can modify the UOM details if the UOM is in “Active” status.
You can also inactivate an UOM. A UOM involved in a part independent or part dependent conversion cannot be inactivated. You cannot also inactivate a UOM, in which a part is stocked, purchased or sold. However pending transactions will be allowed to use an inactivated UOM. The system stores the login user id and the server date, along with the modified details.

You can modify the option to allow or disallow fractions in a particular UOM.
Set the option in the “Fraction Allowed” field to “Yes”, if you wish to allow fractions in that particular UOM.
Set the option in the “Fraction Allowed” field to “No”, if you do not wish to allow fractions in that particular UOM.
You can change the status of the UOM to “Active” or “Inactive”.
Set the option in the “Status” field to “Active”, if you need to allow users to transact in that particular UOM.
Set the option in the “Status” field to “Inactive”, if you do not wish to allow users to transact in that particular UOM.
