Maintaining Task Relationship
Select the “Maintain Task Relationship” link under the “Maintenance Task” business component.
The “Maintain Task Relationship” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date fields appears in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
To retrieve existing relationship between tasks
Enter the following search criteria:
Search On |
Use the drop-down list box to select the entity based on which the relationships defined must be retrieved. The valid options are “Primary Task #”, “Task Desc”, “Rel.Task #” and “Rel. Task Desc”. The system displays the value “Primary Task #” by default. |
Additional Search On |
Use the drop-down list box to select the additional entity based on which the relationships defined must be retrieved. The valid options are “Aircraft Reg #’, ‘Aircraft Model #”, Component #”, Part #, Maint Prog #, Eng. Doc # |
Display Option |
Use the drop-down list box to select the display option as “Regular” or “Schedule”. This allows you to selectively view the relationship under the display option “Regular” or “Schedule”. |
Relationship |
Use the first drop-down list box to select the Regular Relationship Category. relationship category. The drop-down list box displays the following: Planning, Execution and Post-Compliance. Select the relationship from the second drop-down list box. This drop-down list box displays those relationships that are defined for the relationship category you have selected in the first drop-down list box. |
Click on the “Search” pushbutton.
The system displays the relationship details in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline, based on the search criteria.
To create/edit relationship between primary task and related tasks
Enter the following in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline:
Primary Task # |
A unique identifier of the primary task (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. Ensure that the task number is defined in the “Engineering Order”, "Aircraft" and the current business component. Note that you cannot edit the primary task # while modifying the details. |

Enter the following in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline:
Relationship |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the relationship between the primary task and the related task. The valid options are "Block Schedule", "Concurrent - Group", "Concurrent - Specific", "Concurrent - Conditional", "Predecessor Constrained", "Conflict", "Initiate Schedule", "Initiate Records Follow-up", "Terminate Schedule", "Supersede” and ”Conditional”. The system leaves the field blank by default. Tell me more Note: If any relationship has been defined between two tasks, ensure that you do not select “Conflict” relationship option for the same tasks and vice versa. If the execution relationship (Concurrent-Group", "Concurrent-Specific", "Concurrent-Conditional" or "Conflict") has been defined between two tasks, you cannot define some other execution relationship for the same tasks. The Execution Relationship - "Predecessor constraint” can co-exist with the other execution relationships defined. If the post compliance relationship ("Initiate Schedule", "Terminate Schedule", “Supersede” or “Conditional”) has been defined between two tasks, you cannot define any other post compliance relationship between two tasks. However, the Post Compliance Relationship - "Initiate Records Follow-up" can co-exist with the other post compliance relationships defined. |
Seq# |
The sequence number identifying the relationship between the parent task and the related task (Integer, 6). Ensure that the sequence number is a positive integer and is unique for the Primary Task # and Rel. Task # combination in the multiline. |
Rel.Task # |
A unique identifier of the related task (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory if any Regular relationship has been selected or Schedule Relationship has been selected. Ensure that the task number is defined in the “Engineering Order”, "Aircraft" and the current business component. Note: If a record is modified by selecting a different related task, the system removes the existing relationship between the Primary Task # and the previous related task # and a new relationship is defined with the Primary Task # and the modified related Task #. |

Follow-Up Instructions |
Any follow-up instructions required (Alphanumeric, 150). This field is mandatory if you selected the relationship as “Initiate Records Follow - Up" for the primary task. |
Relationship Remarks |
Any remarks pertaining to the relationship (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Rel.Task Starting Day |
The starting day of the related task (Integer). Ensure that the value is a positive integer. If no value is entered, the system updates the field with the value. “1”. Note: This is specifically used for Execution relationships. |
Schedule Relationship |
Use the drop-down list box to select any one of the following schedule relationships: · "Start-Start" · “Start-Finish" · “Finish-Start" · "Finish-Finish” Example, if the relationship between the task T1 and T2 is “Finish– Start”, this indicates that T2 can commence only if the primary task T1 has been completed. Note: If a record is modified and you leave the “Schedule Relationship” drop-down list box blank, the Schedule relationship between the primary task and the related task will also be disassociated/ removed. |
Lag (Days) |
The time gap (in days) between the two tasks (Integer). Ensure that the lag value is a positive number. If this field is left blank, the system sets the value to zero. Note: This is specifically used for schedule relationship. |
Primary Task Base Model # |
The number identifying the aircraft model on which the primary task can be performed (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure that the aircraft model is already defined in the “Aircraft” business component and is in “Active” status. Note: If you do not enter the Primary Task Base Model#, the system defaults the Base Model # associated to the Primary Task #. However, the system throws an error if more than one Base Model # exists for the Primary Task # in the Task Master. |

Rel. Task Base Model # |
The number identifying the aircraft model on which the related task can be performed (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure that the aircraft model is already defined in the “Aircraft” business component and is in “Active” status. Note: If you do not enter the Related Task Base Model#, the system defaults the Base Model # associated to the Related Task#. However, the system throws an error if more than one Base Model # exists for the Related Task # in the Task Master. |

The system performs the following:
If you do not enter the Primary Task Base Model# and Related Task Base Model #, the system defaults the Base Model # associated to the Primary Task # and the Related Task Base Model# in the respective fields.
If you select any Relationship other than "Initiate Records Follow-up" in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline, the system validates that a value is entered in the “Rel. Task #” column in the multiline.
If a value is selected in the “Schedule Relationship” drop-down list box, the system ensures that a value is entered in the “Rel. Task #” column in the multiline.
The system ensures that the Primary task # and the Related Task # are not the same.
If the Relationship is selected as "Initiate Records Follow-up" in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline, the system ignores the value entered in the “Rel.Task#” column in the “Task Relationship Details” multline.
The system ensures that the Primary Task #, Primary Task Base Model#, Rel.Task #, Related Task Base Model #, Relationship/Schedule Relationship combination in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline is unique for a “Primary Task Base Model #” and “Primary Task #” combination.
If a record is modified and the “Relationship” drop-down list box in the “Task Relationship Details” multiline is left blank, the system removes the Relationship details defined between the ''Primary Task #” and the “Rel. Task #”.
If the Execution relationship, "Concurrent-Group" defined for a primary task and related task is reset by updating the relationship to a blank value, the system will remove the relationship defined between the tasks.
The system displays the following in the multiline:
Relationship Category |
The system displays any one of the following relationship categories applicable to the selected relationship. · Planning · Execution · Post Compliance Note: This field value will be displayed only if the relationship selected is a “Regular Relationship” |
Task Status |
The status of the task. |
Note: If the "Primary Task #" or the “Related Task #” entered is not available in the current component but in Engineering Order Business Component, the system leaves the "Task Status" field blank.
Rel.Task Status |
The status of the related task. |
Revision Comments |
Any revision comments applicable to the task |
Revision Date |
The date on which you made the revision. |
Created by |
The name of the person who created the task relationship mapping. |
Created Date & Time |
The date and time on which the task relationship mapping was created. |
Last Modified By |
The name of the person who last modified the task relationship mapping. |
Last Modified Date & Time |
The date and time on which the task relationship mapping was last modified. |
