Revise estimates
This page allows you revise estimates for the task. Tell me more.
Select the ”Revise Estimates” link under the “Maintenance Task” business component.
The “Revise Estimates” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Revise Estimates” group box:
Update Option |
Use the drop-down list box to select for which item the estimated values must be calculated. The system provides the options, “Parts”, “Resources” and “Est. Elapsed Time”. The system sets the field to “Parts” by default. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work unit, for which the estimated value must be calculated. You can calculate the estimated values for the “APTask” or “Task”. The system sets the field to “Task” by default. |

Use the drop-down list box to select the method for revising the estimates, which could be one of the following: |

No. Of Occurrences |
The number of recent occurrences of the task that should be considered for calculating the estimated value. Data entry in this field is mandatory if “Method” field is set to “Moving Average”. |
Delete unused parts / Resources |
Check this box to delete the parts or resources that are not used during the execution of the task or access panel task. |
Add new Parts / Resources |
Check this box to add the parts or the resources that are newly used for executing the task or access panel task. |
Enter the following fields in the “Task Selection” group box, to select the access panel task or task for which the estimates have to be revised:
Task Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the applicability of the task to be retrieved, which could be “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of tasks irrespective of their applicability. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the base aircraft model to which the task is associated (Alphanumeric, 30) |
Task # |
The task for which the estimated values are to be calculated (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system lists all the task numbers that are similar to the values entered here. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the task for which the estimated values are to be calculated. You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system lists all the tasks with revision numbers that are similar to the values entered here. |
Task Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the task to be retrieved, which could be one of the following: “MPD", "CMM", "MOD", "Airline", "Others" or all "Active" quick codes with quick code type as "Task Type". The system lists all the tasks that are in the category specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of tasks irrespective of their category. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Task Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the task for which the estimated values are to be calculated. The system lists all the quick codes that are in the “Active” status, created in the “Create Quick Code” activity. The system retrieves all the tasks that are of the type specified here. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
AP. Task Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the access panel task, which could be “Open” or “Close”. The system retrieves all the access panel tasks that are of the type specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of the access panel tasks irrespective of their type. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Click the “Display Task #” pushbutton, to retrieve the AP tasks or tasks for which the details are to be revised.
The system performs the following:
Calculating the part estimates
If you have chosen the “Simple Average” method, the system calculates the estimated quantity as the average quantities consumed for all the individual parts for each occurrence of the AP task or task in consideration, from the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
If you have chosen the “Moving Average” method, the system calculates the estimated quantity as the average quantities consumed for all the individual parts for the recent occurrences that is specified in the “No. of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task in consideration, from the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
Note: For calculating the averages, the system converts all the parts to their respective unit of measurement and rounds off the new estimated quantity to the nearest integer, if the “Fraction Not Allowed” option is selected in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component. The system considers the parts, only when the estimated quantity is greater than zero.
Calculating the resource estimates
If you have chosen the “Simple Average” method, the system calculates the estimated time as the average time consumed for all the individual resources for each occurrence of the access panel task or task in consideration, from the “Hangar Work Reporting” business component.
If you have chosen the “Moving Average” method, the system calculates the estimated time as the average time consumed for all the individual resources for the recent occurrences that is specified in the “No. of Occurrences” field for the access panel task or task in consideration, from the “Hangar Work Reporting” business component.
Note: For calculating the averages, the system converts the resource estimated time to hours. The system considers the resource, only if the estimated time consumed is greater than zero in “Hangar Work Reporting/Component Work Reporting/Flight Log” business component.
Calculating the elapsed time estimates
If you have chosen the “Simple Average” method, the system calculates the elasped time as the average time consumed for each occurrence of the AP task or task in consideration, from “Hangar Work Reporting” , “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
If you have chosen the “Moving Average” method, the system calculates the elasped time as the average time consumed for the recent occurrences that is specified in the “No. of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task in consideration from “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
The system updates the estimated elapsed time of all standard procedures
When “Delete Unused Parts / Resources” box is checked
Under the “Simple Average” method, if a part identified is not used for more than fifty percentage of the occurrences of the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, the system sets the new estimated quantity of the part belonging to the task or access panel task to zero.
Under the “Moving Average” method, if a part identified is not used for number of recent occurrences specified in the “No. Of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task, the system sets the new estimated quantity of the part belonging to the task or AP task to zero.
Under the “Simple Average” method, if a resource identified is not used for more than fifty percentage of the occurrences of the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, the system sets the new estimated time for the resource for the AP task or task to zero.
Under the “Moving Average” method, if a resource identified is not used for number of recent occurrences specified in the “No. Of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task, the system sets the new estimated time for the resource of the AP task or task to zero.
The part or resource details are permanently deleted for the AP task or task, only on clicking the “Edit Estimates” pushbutton.
When the “Add New Parts / Resource” box is checked
Under the “Simple Average” method, if a new part has been consumed for more than fifty percentage of the occurrences of the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, and if the part is in “Active” status, the system temporarily adds the new part and the estimated quantity to the AP task or task.
Under the “Moving Average” method if a new part has been consumed for number of recent occurrences specified in the “No. Of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, and the part is in “Active” status, the system temporarily adds the new part and the estimated quantity to the AP task or task.
Under the “Simple Average” method, if a new resource has been consumed for more than fifty percentage of the occurrences of the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, and the part is in “Active” status, the system temporarily adds the new resource and the estimated time to the AP task or task.
Under the “Moving Average” method, if a new resource has been consumed for number of recent occurrences specified in the “No. Of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, and the resource is in “Active” status, the system temporarily adds the new resource and the estimated time to the AP task or task.
The part or resource details are updated permanently for the AP task or task, only on clicking the “Edit Estimates” pushbutton.
The system retrieves the task details in the multiline, on clicking the “Display Task #” pushbutton:

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to mark the AP task or task for which the details are to be updated.
Note: Ensure that at least one record is selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Estimates” pushbutton, to revise the estimates of the AP tasks or tasks that are selected in the multiline.
The system performs the following for all the AP tasks or tasks displayed in the multiline:
Updates the parts details, resource details or the estimated time details with the calculated estimated values for the AP tasks or tasks that are in the “Active” status.
Note: For parts and resources, the system updates the details only when the “Update based on actuals” box is checked in the “Spare Parts Information” and the “Resource Information” pages of the “Create Access panel Task” activity.
When the “Delete Unused Parts / Resources” box is checked, the unused parts and resources are determined based on the estimation method selected. The system then sets the new estimated quantity of the unused parts and the new estimated time of the unused resources to zero, and the part and the resource details are permanently deleted for the AP task or task.
When the “Add New Parts / Resources” box is checked, the new parts and resources are determined based on the estimation method selected. The system then adds the new parts and the estimated quantity, along with the new resources and the estimated time, to the AP task or task.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to mark the AP task or task for which the details are to be revised.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Revise Part Estimates” link at the bottom of the page to revise the spare part estimates
Select the “Revise Resource Estimates” link at the bottom of the page to revise the resource estimates.
Select the “Revise Elapsed Time Estimates” link at the bottom of the page to revise the elapsed time estimates.
Revise estimates – An overview
This page allows you to specify whether you wish to revise the estimated values for the parts, resource or the elapsed time, and also specify whether the estimates must be revised for the task or access panel task.
You can select the method in which the estimated values must be calculated. If the “Simple Average” method is selected, then the system considers all the occurrences of the task or the access panel task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components, for calculating the revised value. If the “Moving Average” is selected, you must enter the number of recent occurrences of the access panel task or task that must be considered for calculating the revised value.
You are also provided with the option of deleting parts or resources that are not used during the execution of the task or access panel task. You can add new spare parts or resources that are used for executing the access panel task or task.
You can search for the task or access panel task for which the estimated values have to be calculated. For access panel tasks, you can carry out the search based on the access panel task number or its type. For tasks, you can carry out a search based on the task number, revision number, task category, type or task applicability.
The system calculates the estimated values and stores the values temporarily for the task or access panel task. You can update the estimated values permanently for the tasks or the AP tasks in bulk, or select a particular task or AP task to be updated. On updating, the estimated values are updated, depending upon the work unit type selected.
You can also select a particular task and modify the calculated estimated quantity for the part in the “Revise Part Estimates” page. The “Revised Resource Estimates” page allows you to modify the calculated estimated time for the resource. The calculated estimated elapsed time details can be modified in the “Revise Elapsed Time Estimates” page.

There are two methods in which you can calculate the estimated values of the parts, resources or the elapsed time.
Under the “Simple Average” method, the system calculates the estimated values for all the occurrences of the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting”, “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
Under the “Moving Average” method, the system calculates the average estimated values for the recent occurrences specified in the “No. of Occurrences” field for the AP task or task in the “Hangar Work Reporting” , “Component Work Reporting” and “Flight Log” business components.
Set the “Method” field to “Simple Average”, to calculate the estimated values using the simple average method.
Set the “Method” field to “Moving Average”, to calculate the estimated values using the moving average method.
Delete unused parts or resources
You can delete the parts or resources that were not used during the execution of the access panel task or the task.
Check the “Delete unused Parts or Resources“ box, to delete the unused parts or resources.
The unused parts and resources are determined based on the estimation method selected. The system then sets the new estimated quantity of the unused parts and the new estimated time of the unused resources to zero, and the part and the resource details are permanently deleted for the AP task or task.
You can add the parts or the resource that are newly used for executing the AP task or the task.
Check the “Add new Parts or Resources” box to add new parts or resource to the AP task or task.
The new parts and resources are determined based on the estimation method selected. The system then adds the new parts and the estimated quantity, along with the new resources and the estimated time, to the AP task or task.
