Managing schedule relationships of tasks

Using Online Help

You can setup schedule relationship between two tasks in the process plan, one being the primary task and, the other the predecessor task. Here, a predecessor task can be any task with operational sequence # less than that of the primary task in the process plan. This definition will override the schedule relationship that has already been defined in the “Maintain Task Relationship” activity and, will be effective only for the specific process plan.

The “Manage Schedule Relationships of Tasks” popup appears.

The “Doc Details” group box displays the following:

Doc Type

The type of the document in which schedule relationship of the task is applicable.

Doc #

The document in which the schedule relationship of the task is applicable.

Task #

Use the drop-down list box to select the task for which you want to define schedule relationship. The drop-down list box displays all the tasks from the process plan except the task with the lowest Oper. Seq. #.

Note: A task with the lowest operational sequence # indicates it will be the first one to be executed from the process plan and hence this task will not have a predecessor task.

Task Description

The textual description task for which you want to define schedule relationship.

Predecessor Task #

Use the drop-down list box to select the predecessor task with which you want to define schedule relationship for the task. Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays all the tasks from the process plan with Oper. Seq. # that is greater than the selected task.

The “Related Task Details” multiline displays the following:

Task Description

The description of the predecessor task with which you want to define schedule relationship for the selected task.

Schedule Relationship

Use the drop-down list box to select the schedule relationship to be set between the tsk and its predecessor task. The drop-down list box displays the following:

  • Start- Start

  • Start - Finish

  • Finish - Start

  • Finish – Finish

Note: The predecessor task and schedule relationship combination is mandatory.

Lag

The time interval between the execution of the predecessor task and the task.

Time UOM

Use the drop-down list box to select the unit of measurement for the lag duration. The drop-down list box displays:

  • Hours

  • Minutes

  • Days

Note: At any point in time, only one schedule relationship can exist between the task and its predecessor task. Further, you cannot define schedule relationship for the task with the lowest operational sequence in the process plan.
