Create Engineering Service Request – A summary of the activity
This activity allows you to create an Engineering Service Request (ESR) and confirm it.
The maintenance procedures of an aircraft and its sub-systems are carried out as per approved procedures available in the “Aircraft Maintenance Manual” (AMM), “Component Maintenance Manual”(CMM) or the “Service Bulletins” (SB). The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or the Local Aviation Authority releases these manuals and bulletins. The maintenance activities of the aircraft and its components must be executed as per the approved maintenance program. Any deviation to the laid down procedures or adoption of new procedures requires the approval of the engineering cell and in some cases, that of the regulatory authorities also.
During the maintenance process the maintenance crew could encounter problems, which are not prescribed in the AMM or the CMM or any of the SBs. The solutions for these problems can be received from the engineering cell. An Engineering Service Request (ESR) is raised to communicate the request for clarifications to the respective engineering cell on a maintenance object. The details of the aircraft, components, reference documents and work center are provided in the ESR, for the easy processing of an ESR. The engineering cell sends the clarification in the form of “Engineering Advice Note” which guides the maintenance activity.
The “Create Engg Service Request” page allows you to raise an ESR and confirm it. Help facility is available for selecting the aircraft, component ID, zone, part number and the serial number.

What you can do in this activity
Raise ESR based on “Aircraft”, “Component” or “Engine”
Raise ESR based on “Aircraft”, “Component” or “Engine”
You can create an ESR, which is effective for aircraft or component or engine. Since the maintenance execution centers provide service to aircraft and components belonging to varied bases, based on the specified effectivity (Aircraft registration number or the Part number and serial number), the ESR will be automatically routed to the responsible engineering cell.
Select the appropriate option in the “Applicability” drop-down list box.
If the ESR is applicable for “Aircraft”, you can enter the aircraft on which the maintenance activity is being performed and for which the clarification is sought.
Enter the aircraft details in the “Aircraft Details” group box.
If the ESR is applicable for “Engine” or “Component”, you can define the component on which the maintenance is being performed and for which the clarification is sought.
Enter the component details in the “Component Details” group box.
The details of the person who has requested the clarification can be specified in the “Requestor Details” group box.
Enter the work phone number of the requestor in the “Work Phone #” field.
Enter the email ID of the person who has requested the clarification in the “Email” field.
Enter the additional details regarding the person who has requested the clarification in the “Other Details” field.
