The “Initialize Component Assembly” page appears.

The system displays the following:

Date & Time Format

The format in which the date and time fields are displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default.

The system displays the following fields in the “Component Details” group box:

Component #

The component foHr which the configuration is being defined or updated.

Part #

The part number to which the component belongs. Note

Mfr. Part #/Mfr. #

The manufacturer part number and the manufacturer number of the component. Note

Serial #

Level Code

The code identifying the level at which the component ID and the position code occurs in the component configuration hierarchy.

The system displays the configuration details of the component in the form of a tree structure with ‘Component #’ as a parent level node. On expanding the node,, the configuration details such as "Position Code", "Part #", "Part Description", "Part Serial #" and "Component ID" are displayed for the component. If a component exists for a position code, and if a Piece Part is defined for that position code level in the configuration, the system displays the first level position code along with a folder for Piece Part #. The tree display format is as shown below:

- Component #

    - Position Code II Part # II Part Description II Serial # II Component #

    - Piece Parts

Part # II Part Description II Quantity II Position # II Position Description

Note: In the tree structure above, the system displays “Mfr. Part # - Mfr. #” combination, if the parameter “Enable Manufacturer Part # control in transaction” under the Category ‘Manufacturer Part #’ is set as “Yes” in the “Set Inventory Process Parameters” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component. If the parameter is set as “No”, the system displays “Part #”.

Note:  Clicking the   icon launches the “View Notes” page.

Note: Ensure that atleast one of the position codes associated to the component ID in the 'Component #' field and it's subsequent levels associated to the component configuration, has no history of fitment of a component ID or serial number to it

Initialization File Name

The file name of the document that contains component assembly details  (Alphanumeric, 50).

Note: You can define/change configuration details in the Initialize Component Assembly page only if the component configuration is in “Fresh” status and/with revision # of ‘0’. After activation of configuration, details of configuration can be updated only using the Update Component Configuration page.

The system ensures that the specified part number is valid and is in “Active” reference status in the “Part Administration” business component.

The system ensures that the specified part number is either a valid part number for the position code or free alternate part number for the part number specified for the position code.

The system updates the ownership for the created Component ID with 'Customer', if the component for which configuration built is customer-owned. The system also updates the Component Ownership Details such as Owning Agency number and Engagement Type.

The system copies the preferred stock status of the parent component as the stock status and preferred stock status of the created component ID. If the component ID that is created is the first level component, the system copies the preferred stock status of the parent aircraft as the stock status and preferred stock status of the newly generated component ID.

If the component specified in the “Component Details” group box is a supplier-owned component with the possession status set as “PBH” in the “Aircraft” business component, the system updates the ownership for the component in the “Component Assembly Details” multiline, as “Supplier” along with the component ownership details such as supplier name, possession status and engagement type.

The system updates the attachment status for the position code. Also the modified attachment status is updated in the replacement history of the “Component Replacement” business component.

Generation of Component ID: If the manufacturer serial # for a component does not exist and, if Component ID Generation is “Auto”, the system automatically generates the component ID indicating that the component is new to inventory.

Restrictions on part/serial replacement

You cannot attach part #/serial # to a NHA/aircraft during the effective period, if the process parameter “Allow Component Attachment?” for the restriction code of the part #/serial # is ‘No’.

Similarly, you cannot remove part #/serial # from a NHA/aircraft during the effective period, if the process parameter “Allow Component Removal?” for the restriction code of the part #/serial # is ‘No’.

On the contrary, if the restriction code of the part#/serial # allows component attachment/removal, the system proceeds with replacement.

(You can place restrictions on attachment/removal of part#/serial# in the “Manage Part Restrictions” activity of Aircraft by associating a restriction code that does not allow attachment/removal during the period between Effective From and To dates. Restrictions placed on part # via the restriction code apply to all serial #s of the part. Restrictions can also be placed on a specific serial # or on a range of serial #s of a part. Process parameters of restriction codes determine whether they facilitate component replacement. And these are defined in the “Set Process Parameters” page of “Define Process Entities” activity of Common Master.)

Initializing component assembly – An overview

Build Component Configuration - A summary of the activity

This page allows you to attach components to the position codes in the component configuration to enable easy tracking and interchange of the components. You can attach a component to the position code only when the position code does not have any other component attached to it. Once components are attached to the position codes, they cannot be modified. Use the “Update CR Details” activity under the “Component Replacement” business component to replace components attached to position codes.

You can add or modify the configuration details for the components level by level. In the aircraft structure, the level at which the position code and part number occurs, is identified by system generated integers called “Level Codes”. The level of the primary entity (Model / Aircraft / Part number / Component) that takes the highest position in the hierarchy is “0”. All the child entities defined under this primary entity assume the level “1”, i.e. “1.1”, “1.2” etc. The succeeding levels assume the level subsequent to the parent level, i.e. 1.1.1,1.1.2 etc., as illustrated in Figure 1.

You can attach the components by specifying the component ID and the serial number in the multiline. You can also specify the date and time at which the component is attached to the component configuration. You are also provided with the option of specifying the default date and time of attachment while associating multiple component IDs to the component configuration.
