Config. Control Basis: The basis for attaching parts to component during maintenance

When you attach a part to a component, the system checks for the Config. Control Basis attribute of the part in the component configuration.

If this attribute is set to Config. Rules, you can associate the part to the component only if the following are true.

• The part must be valid for the position code in the component as defined in the configuration.

• The part must be an Alternate part for the position code in the component as defined in the configuration.

• The part must be set to Effective or Conditional Effective for the component as defined in the “Maintain Part Effectivity” activity.

If the Config. Control Basis attribute of the part is set to “Part Effectivity”, the last rule is the only prerequisite for associating a part to a component.
