Manage Part Effectivity– A summary of the activity
This activity enables you to record/update the effectivity of parts. Effectivity of a part is set for aircraft model/aircraft/part/component. Effectivity defines the compatibility of a part for an aircraft/component.
To make a part effective to all aircraft models/aircraft/parts/components, do not define effectivity for the part in this activity.
Setting effectivity of a part using the Effectivity Status flag: You can set the effectivity of a part by choosing one of the following statuses as explained below:
Effective: You can make a part suitable for an aircraft model/aircraft/part/component by setting its Effectivity Status to “Effective”. When a part is made effective for an aircraft model, it implies that the part is compatible for all the aircraft of the aircraft model. It also means that the part is incompatible for all other models of aircraft. You can also make a part effective for a specific aircraft, which means the part is not suitable for any other aircraft. Similarly, if you make a part or parts effective for a NHA (parent) part/component, all other NHA parts/ components automatically become unsuitable for the part.
Conditional Effective: You may make a part effective for an aircraft model/aircraft/part/component under certain flying conditions or for specific maintenance/usage parameters. This can be achieve when you set Effectivity Status to “Conditional Effective”. This makes the part incompatible to other aircraft models/aircraft/parts/components.
Not Effective: You make a part ineffective for an aircraft model/aircraft/part/component when you set the Effectivity Status to “Not Effective”. This makes the part effective to all other aircraft model/aircraft/part/component.
The effectivity definition that you define in this activity forms the basis for attachment of parts during component replacement and aircraft maintenance
Rules governing effectivity definition of parts
Effectivity Status of a part must be consistent: This means that the Effectivity Status of a part must be Effective, Conditionally Effective or Not Effective for all aircraft models/aircraft/parts/components. For example, if a part P10 has been made effective to an aircraft model A320, you cannot set the Effectivity Status of the part with any other aircraft model to “Not Effective”. Similarly, if a part has been made ineffective for a NHA part P20, you cannot make the part effective for another NHA part P40. The system does not allow you to do this since all aircraft models or parts to which the part has been made effective/ineffective explicitly have automatically become effective/ineffective for the part.
Effectivity Status of a part with an aircraft and its model: You can make a part as effective, conditionally effective or not effective for an aircraft even if the part is effective for the model of the aircraft. However, you cannot make a part effective for an aircraft, if the model of the part is the part is ineffective for the aircraft model.
Effectivity Status of a part with its serial #s: You can make a serial # of a part as effective, conditionally effective or not effective even if the part is effective. However, the reverse is not possible. Note that all serial #s of a part become effective/ineffective automatically when you make the part effective/ineffective to an aircraft model/aircraft/NHA part/component.

Record/update effectivity details of parts
You can associate a part to one of the following: NHA part, NHA component, aircraft model or aircraft.
4 To make a part effective/ineffective for aircraft model/aircraft/part/component,
Set the Effectivity Status to “Effective”
4 To make a part ineffective for any aircraft model/aircraft/part/component
Set the Effectivity Status to “Not Effective”.
4 To make a part conditional effective for any aircraft model/aircraft/part/component
Set the Effectivity Status to “Conditional Effective”.
Provide effectivity notes on the conditions under which the part is effective to the aircraft model/aircraft/part/component
4 To make a part effective/ineffective for a NHA component
Specify the NHA part # and NHA serial # that identifies the component and Effectivity Status as well.
