Using online help

This activity allows you to set defaults for user preferences. The various defaults details like formats and styles for number, time, date and error display type are defined in this activity. After setting each default details you can preview each format before updating the preferences.

The “Set Defaults for User Preferences” page appears.

To define Number Preferences

Decimal Separator

Use the drop-down list box to select the symbol to represent the decimal point separation. Mandatory

For Example,

Separator used ‘.’

Numeric preview is ‘-123,456,789.00’

Digit Grouping Symbol

Use the drop-down list box to select the symbol to represent place value separation. Mandatory

For Example,

Separator used ‘,’

Numeric preview is ‘-123,456,789.00’

Digit Grouping

Use the drop-down list box to select the digit grouping. The combo is loaded with “No grouping”, “Million based” and “Lakh based”. The system displays “No grouping” as default on launch of the page.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘Million based’

Numeric preview is ‘-123,456,789.00’

Negative Number

Use the drop-down list box to select the negative number format. The combo is loaded with the values form the meta data.

For Example,

Negative Number display selected is ‘-1.1’

Numeric preview is ‘-123,456,789.00’

The system displays the following in the header.

Numeric Preview

The preview of the “Decimal Separator”, “Group Symbol”, “Digit Grouping”, “Negative Number”.

For Example,

Numeric preview is ‘-123,456,789.00’

Note: This preview is updated when the “Preview” pushbutton is clicked.

To define Time Preferences

Time Format

Use the drop-down list box to select the time format. The combo is loaded “12-hour” and “24-hour” time format.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘12-hour’

Time preview is ‘4:52:55 PM’

2) Option selected is ‘24-hour’

Time preview is ‘16:53:40’

Time Separator

Use the drop-down list box to select the symbol to show time separation. Mandatory

For example,

Separator used is ‘:

Time Preview is ‘4:33:52 PM’

Hour

Use the drop-down list box to select the hour format. The combo is loaded with “h” or “hh” options. The system displays “h” as default on launch of the page.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘h’

Time preview is ‘4:52:55 PM’

2) Option selected is ‘hh’

Time preview is ‘04:52:55 PM’

Minute

Use the drop-down list box to select the minute’s format. The combo is loaded with “m” or “mm” options. The system displays “m” as default on launch of the page.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘m’

Time preview is ‘5:9:07 PM’

2) Option selected is ‘mm’

Time preview is ‘5:09:51 PM’

Second

Use the drop-down list box to select the second’s format. The combo is loaded with “s”, “ss” and “none” options. The system defaults “s” as default on launch of the page.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘s’

Time preview is ‘5:12:1 PM’

2) Option selected is ‘ss’

Time preview is ‘5:12:05 PM’

3) Option selected is ‘none’

Time preview is ‘5:12 PM’

AM

The user can enter either of the following combination, “AM” or “am”.

PM

The user can enter either of the following combination, “PM” or  pm”.

The system displays the following in the header.

Time Preview

The preview of the “Time Format”, “Time Separator”, “Hour”, “Minutes”, “Seconds”, “AM” and “PM”.

For Example,

Time preview is ‘4:52:55 PM’

Note: This preview is updated when the “Preview” pushbutton is clicked.

To define Date Preferences

Date Format

Use the drop-down list box to select the date format. The combo is loaded with the values form the meta data.

For Example,

Date format selected is ‘d/m/y’

Date preview is ‘3/8/2006’

Date Separator

Use the drop-down list box to select the symbol to show date separation. Mandatory

For example,

Separator used is ‘/

Date preview is ‘3/8/2006’

Day

Use the drop-down list box to select the day format. The combo is loaded with “d” and “dd” options.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘d’

Date preview is ‘3/10/2006’

2) Option selected is ‘dd’

Date preview is ‘03/10/2006’

Month

Use the drop-down list box to select the month format. The combo is loaded with “M”,“MM” and “MMM” options.

For Example,

1) Option selected is ‘M’

Date preview is ‘3/8/2006’

2) Option selected is ‘MM’

Date preview is ‘03/08/2006’

3) Option selected is ‘MMM’

Date preview is ‘03/Aug/2006’

The system displays the following in the header.

Date Preview

The preview of the “Date Format”, “Date Separator”, “Day” and “Month”.

For Example,

Date preview is ‘3/8/2006’

Note: This preview is updated when the “Preview” pushbutton is clicked.

Display Success message in status bar

Select the check box to display the success message in status bar after every action.

ExportExcel

Use the drop-down list box to specify the format to export the details in excels. The combo is loaded with “Canonical Format” and “User Format”. The system displays “Canonical Format” as default on launch of the page.

To preview the user preferences details

The system shows the preview for each format preferred by the user.

To fetch the user preferences details

The system fetches all the default user preferences which is already defined by the user.

To fetch the user preferences details

The system updates the user preferences.

Note: The system overwrites the user preferences if the user set their own preferences in the “User Preference” screen of “Security” component.
