Password Policy
This activity allows you to fetch, update or restore default values for password policy. You can specify the various details of the password policy such as setting the password maximum and minimum length, password expiry period, password history count, number of login failures for account lockout, account lockout time, sending number of days for lockout as warning before the end of day and so on. Additionally you can also specify how the password for the account has to be. It must contain atleast one upper case character, one lower case character, one special character or one number.
This page allows you to update and restore the password policy details.
Select the “Password Policy” link under the “Administration Process” business component.
The “Password Policy” page appears.
Enter the following details in the header:
Password Maximum Length |
The number indicates the maximum length for user password. The system displays 25 characters as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Password Minimum Length |
The number indicates the minimum length for user password. The system displays 6 characters as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Expired Period for Password (in days) |
Indicates the number of days within which the password gets expired. The system displays 360 days as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Password History Count |
The number indicates the history count for password to remain in the system. The system displays 5 counts as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
No. of Login failures for A/c Lockout |
Indicates the number of login failures for account lockout. The system displays 3 times as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Account Lockout Time (in days) |
Indicates the number of days the user account gets lockout when the account is not being used by the user. The system displays 30 days as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Send Warning Before (in days) |
The number of days before the warning for account lockout has to be sent. The system displays 2 days as default on launch of the page. Mandatory |
Expiry Period for Administrator Password (in days) |
The number of days indicates the expiry period for administration password. The system displays 0 days as default on launch of the page. |
Password cannot be the variations of the User Name |
Use the drop-down list box to select whether the password can be the variations of the username or not. The combo is loaded with “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “No” as default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following details in the “Password should contain At least” group box:
1 Upper Case Character |
Select the check box to entitle the user that the password should contain atleast one upper case character. |
1 Lower Case Character |
Select the check box to entitle the user that the password should contain atleast one lower case character. |
1 Special Character |
Select the check box to entitle the user that the password should contain atleast one special character. |
1 Number |
Select the check box to entitle the user that the password should contain atleast one number. |
To restore the password policy details
Click the “Restore Password Policy Defaults” button to restore the default password policy details.
The system restores the password policy for all the users.
To update the password policy details
Click the “Update Password Policy details” push button to update the password policy details.
