This page allows you to search and select the depreciation rule for activating or inactivating. Tell me more.

Depreciation Rule No.

The number identifying the depreciation rule to be activated or inactivated (Alphanumeric, 20).

Asset Class Code

Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the asset class.  The system loads all the asset class defined in the “Create Asset Class” activity of the “Asset Type Definition” business component, for selection. The system displays the first asset class by default on launch of the page.

Status

The status of the depreciation rule.

 
  • Active – The depreciation rule on creation attains the “Active” status.

 
  • Inactive – The depreciation rule on inactivated attains the “Inactive” status.

 

The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page.

Depreciation Rule No.

The number identifying the depreciation rule (Alphanumeric, 20). Enter the depreciation number in full or specify it partially using ‘*’ character. The system retrieves the details in the multiline whose depreciation rule number is similar to the number entered here.

Rule Description

The textual description pertaining to the depreciation rule (Alphanumeric, 40). Enter the description in full or specify it partially using the ‘*’ character. The system retrieves all the depreciation rule whose description is similar to the value entered here.

Depreciation Method

Use the drop-down list box to select the method in which the assets are depreciated. The methods available are “Straight Line”, Diminishing Balance” and the “Sum of Years Digits”. The system retrieves the depreciation rule whose method of depreciation is the method selected here. The system displays the “Straight Line” by default on launch of the page.

Basis

Use the drop-down list box to select the basis on which the depreciation is calculated. The options available are “Acqn. Cost” and “Acqn. Cost – Salvage”. The system displays “Acqn. Cost” by default on launch of the page.

Yearly Percent

Use the drop-down list box to retrieve the depreciation rule, which has depreciation yearly percent.  The options available are “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “Yes” by default on launch of the page. The system displays the “Acqn. Cost” by default on launch of the page.

Depreciation Rate Id

The number identifying the depreciation rate (Alphanumeric, 20). Enter the rate ID in full or specify it partially using the ‘*’ characters. The system retrieves the depreciation rule whose rate ID is similar to the value entered here.

Depreciation Rate

The rate in which the asset is being depreciated (Alphanumeric, 20). Enter the depreciation rate in full or specify it partially using the ‘*’ character. The system retrieve the depreciation rule whose rule is similar to the value entered here.

Depreciation Convention

Use the drop-down list box to select the convention, which is being followed while depreciation. The various conventions available are “Prorate”, “Mid Year”, “Mid Period”, "Mid Month", “Full Period”  and “User Defined”. The system retrieves the depreciation rule whose convention is the conventions selected here. The system displays “Prorate” by default on launch of the page.

Asset Class Code

The code identifying the asset class.

Depreciation Rule No.

The number identifying the depreciation rule.

Rule Description

The textual description pertaining to the depreciation rule.

Depreciation Rate Id

The number identifying the depreciation rate.

Method

The method which is adopted in depreciating the asset.

Basis

The basis on which the asset is being depreciated.

Status

The status of the depreciation rule.

Yearly Percentage

Indicates whether the yearly percent is applied for the rule.

Note: Atleast one depreciation rule must be in “Inactive” status.

The depreciation ID that has been assigned to the depreciation rule must be in “Active” status.

The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Active”.

The system stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.

Note: Atleast one depreciation rule must be in “Active” status.

The depreciation rule cannot be inactivated, if the rule has been assigned to any depreciation category.

The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Inactive”.

The system stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.

Selecting depreciation rule for activating / inactivating – An overview

You can also activate or inactivate the selected depreciation rule. Only the “Active” depreciation rule can be inactivated and the “Inactive” rule can be activated.

You can directly enter the depreciation rule for modification if you are aware of it. You can also carry out the search using the asset class code, the number identifying the depreciation rule, the textual description pertaining to the depreciation rule, the method of depreciation, basis on which the depreciation is made, the convention followed while depreciating and the depreciation rate. The system retrieves the depreciation rule details based on the search criteria.

The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Active” on activating and “Inactive” on inactivating. The system also stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.
