Assigning rule to the depreciation book
This page allows you to assign the depreciation rule to the depreciation book. On selecting the depreciation book, the system retrieves all the depreciation categories that are not assigned to the depreciation book, in the multiline. You can seek the help provided to specify the depreciation rule and provide an effective date from which the assignment is effective.
The system updates the status of the depreciation category to “Active” on assigning a rule. The system also stores the login ID of the user to the created by and the system date to the created date.
Select the “Assign Rule” link at the bottom of the “Create Depreciation Rule” page.
The “Assign Rule” page appears.
Enter the following field:
Depreciation Book Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the depreciation book. The system loads the “Corporate”, “Tax” and other depreciation book codes for selection. The system displays “Corporate” by default on launch of the page. |

The textual description pertaining to the depreciation book. |
The system displays the following field in the “Assignment” multiline:
Depreciation Category |
The code identifying the depreciation category which is not been assigned to the depreciation book. |
Enter the following fields:
Depreciation Rule No. |
The number identifying the depreciation rule (Integer). Mandatory. The depreciation rule must have been defined in the “Create Depreciation Setup” activity of this business component. |

Effective From Date |
The date from which the assignment is effective (Date Format). The date entered here must be greater than or equal to the effective date of the depreciation rule. The date entered must be the start date of the “Active” financial period for the depreciation book selected. |
Note: The effective date must be later than the date on which the Fixed Asset is installed.
Atleast one depreciation rule must be assigned to depreciation book.
Click the “Assign Rule” pushbutton to assign the depreciation rule to the depreciation book.
The system updates the status of the depreciation category to “Active”.
The system stores the login ID of the user to the created by and the system date to the created date.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “View Rules” at the bottom of the page to view the depreciation rules.
Select the “Function Defaults” at the bottom of the page to view the function defaults.
