Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page allows you to select a position code for which the configuration rules must be defined. Tell me more

The “Edit Position Attributes” page appears.

The system displays the following fields in the “Model Details” group box:

Aircraft Model #

The aircraft model selected in the main page.

Config. Status

The status of the model configuration, which could be “Fresh” or “Active”.

Configuration Class

The configuration class to which the aircraft model is associated.

Revision #

The revision number of the model configuration.

The system displays the model configuration details in the form of a tree structure. The details such as "Position Code", "Part #", "Part Description", "Part Serial #" and "Component ID" are displayed.

Note: On selection of a node in the tree structure, the system automatically retrieves the corresponding position details in the “Display Filter” group box and the “Position Details” multiline.

Position Code

The position code for which the configuration rules must be defined (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the position codes, which are similar to the values entered here.

Part #

The part number for which the position code details are to be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the position codes to which this part is associated.

NHA

The parent part number of the position code and the associated part, which is otherwise called the next higher assembly (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the position codes belonging to the NHA, as defined in the part configuration hierarchy. Example: Refer Figure 1.

ATA #

The ATA chapter for which the position code details are to be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the position codes that are associated to the ATA chapter.

Display Level

Use the drop-down list box to select the level for which the position code details are to be retrieved. The system retrieves all the position codes defined at this level. Example: Refer Figure 1

Level Code

The level code corresponding to the position code (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the level code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the position codes that are applicable to the level code entered here.

Note: The system retrieves the details of the position codes & the parts associated to each of these position codes & all other details associated to it.

If the “Level Code” is alone entered, the system retrieves the details of the corresponding position code from the tree structure along with the part details in the “Position Details” multiline.

The system fills in the following fields in the “Position Details” multiline, based on the filter criteria entered:

Link Info

Indicates whether the interchangeability rules, intermixing rules and ETOP twin position rules have been entered for the position. The system displays one of the following options:

  • IC – indicates that the interchangeability rules have been entered for the position code.

  • IM – indicates that the intermixing rules have been entered for the position code.

  • ETOP – indicates that the ETOP twin position rules have been entered for the position code.

If more than one of the above details are entered, then the system concatenates the respective values.

Level Code

The level number of the position code and its associated part number.

Position Code

The position code retrieved by the system.

Part #

The number identifying the part associated to the position code.

Part Description

The textual description of the part.

NHA

The number identifying the parent part.

Cargo

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes” to indicate that the position code is in the cargo aircraft. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No”.

RVSM

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes” to indicate that the position code is in the aircraft, which fly in the reduced vertical separation minimum limit. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No”.

Zone #

The zone associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 10). The zone number should have already been defined in the “Create Zone” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and should be in “Active” status.

Help facility available.

Position Formula #

The formula associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 15). The position formula number should have been defined in the “Formula Builder” business component and should be in “Active” status.

Help facility available.

ATA #

The ATA chapter number associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 18).

Help facility available.

Remarks

Any remarks regarding the configuration. When a remark is entered, then the position code is mandatory.

Note: The system generates a unique id for each record against the remarks. The remarks added are displayed in the “View Notes Information” page.

If the position attributes are modified for the position codes, the system updates the changes to the corresponding Reference Part # - Position Code - Level Code - Configuration Class - Model combination in the Aircraft Configuration. This update happens only if the Model Configuration is in “Active” status and if the “Inherit Changes to Aircraft” box is checked for the Revision # in the “Build Model Configuration” page of the current business component.

Note: Position attribute modifications are inherited only to the Aircraft Reg #s which are in “Active” and “Under Creation” statuses and to the Aircraft configuration which is in “Active” and “Fresh” statuses.

Editing position  attributes for model configuration – An overview

Build Model Configuration - A summary of the activity

This page allows you to select a position code and define the configuration rules for it. Configuration rules govern the interchanging and intermixing of parts and the list of ETOP twin position codes. These configuration rules can be defined in the “Edit ETOP Twin Positions”, “Edit Part Interchangeability Rules” and the “Edit Part Intermixing Rules” pages for the position code selected in this page.

You can carry out a search based on the position code, part number, the parent part number, ATA chapter to which the position code is associated, or the level code. Details such as the level code, position code, the part fitted in the position code, part description and the parent part number are displayed.
