Ensure that you are in the “Record Position Competencies” page.
The system displays the following details at the top of the page.

Date Format |
The date format that is applicable to the login user. More Details |
Position Code |
The unique code of the position to which you want to map the required competencies. |
Position Title |
The title of the position for which you are mapping the required competencies. |
Position Description |
The unique description of the position to which you want to map the required competencies. |
Department Code |
The unique code of the department to which the position for which you are mapping the competencies belongs to. |
Job Code |
The unique code of the job to which the position for which you are mapping the competencies belongs to. |
Use the “Default Position Competency From” group box, to specify the position code whose competencies you want to map to the selected position by default.
Position Code |
The unique code of the position whose competencies you want to map by default to the position being defined. This field is help-enabled. |
Select the “Default Position Competency” pushbutton. The competency of the default position is mapped to this position .
The system displays the whether competencies are defined or not in the competency defined in the ‘Employment units Applicable to position’ field
If the user checks the ‘Default’ check box , then on save the competency mapped to the default position will be mapped to this position.
Use the “Select” check box in the “Employment Units Applicable To Position” multiline to select the employment unit for which you want to specify competency details

Employment Unit Code |
The unique code of the employment unit. |
Employment Unit Description |
The unique description of the employment unit. |
Competencies Defined |
The system indicates if the competencies are defined for the corresponding employment unit or otherwise. |
Select the “Get Competencies” pushbutton after selecting the required employment unit.
If the competency is mapped then The system displays the details of the competencies applicable to the selected employment unit in the corresponding fields in the “Applicable Competencies” multi line, If the competency is mot mapped then the system displays the department, Job competency of the position in the multiline.
You can modify the details of the listed competencies or specify new ones.
Competency Code |
The unique competency code to be mapped to the position. |
Competency Description |
The unique description of the corresponding competency. |
Competency MDL |
The minimum desired level of the corresponding competency. Indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in an employee. If the competency is “Communication Skills”, you can specify a value, for example, 35 or 45., to indicate the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in the employee. The maximum value could be set in the system parameters as 100, 200 etc. Depending on the maximum value set in the system parameters, the user can assign the minimum desired level. You can also modify the minimum desired level of the competency. |
Competency Weight |
The weightage of the competency with respect to other competencies specified for the position. |
When you select the “Compute Competency Weights (In %) pushbutton below the multi line, the system computed the competency weightage in percentage and displays the value in the “Competency Wt(%) column of the multi line.

The weightage of the competency, in percentage. |
Mandatory |
From the drop down list box, select required value to indicate whether the corresponding competency is mandatory for the position or otherwise. Select “Yes” to make the competency mandatory for the position and select “No” to indicate otherwise. |
Select the “Make Competency Applicable to all Employment Units” check box to make the competency applicable to all the employment units.
Select the “Save Default” check box to save the details of the competency used by default.
Select the “Save” pushbutton to save the details entered.
