The “Select Employee For Initiating Promotion/Transfer” page appears.
The system displays the following field at the top right of the page
Date Format |
The date format that is applicable to the login user. |
Specify the following detail.
Employee Movement Unit: |
The organization unit in which the employee movements component is deployed. |
Current Employment Unit |
The description of the employment unit to which the employee is currently attached. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. The system lists the employment units which interact with the specified employee movement unit. |
Select the employee record, either through the “Direct Entry” group box or through the “Search Criteria” group box.
Use this method if you know the complete employee code of the required employee.
Enter the complete employee code of the employee for whom you want to initiate promotion/transfer process, in the “Employee Code” field.
Select the “Initiate Employee Promotion/Transfer” hyperlink beside.
The “Initiate Employee Promotion Transfer” page appears. All details of the selected record are displayed.
To initiate employee promotion/transfer, refer to the topic “Initiating Employee Promotion/Transfer”.
Use this method, if you know just a few characters of the employee code. In the search option, you can specify search criteria, with or without wild cards for a range of employee details. The system fetches the employee records that match the combination of search criteria specified. To increase the probability of finding the closest matching records, you can specify values for as many details as possible.
For example, if you specify search parameters for the name and code of the employee and the department in which he/she is currently employed, the system fetches the records that match these criteria. If in addition, you specify the employee’s current employment unit or enter the dates to indicate the probable period in which the employee was hired/rehired or was promoted/transferred, you can narrow your search to the closest matching records. To further simplify the search, you can search among records with a specific job title or authorization status also.
Specify search criteria for any or all of the following details.
Note: You can specify the search criteria for the details with or without wild cards.
Employee Code |
The unique employee code of the employee. To view all the employee codes containing specific characters, type in the starting character or characters of these employee codes. |

Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example: ECC1*, will search for those employee codes that start with ECC1. Other examples are *ECC1 and EC*C1. |
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. To view all the employee names containing specific characters type in the starting character or characters of these employee names. |

Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example: To get Jonathan, type in JO*, to search for those employee names that start with JO. Other examples are *NATHAN, JO*AN, and JONATH*. |
Current Position Title |
The position currently held by the employee. To view all the descriptions of the current position titles containing specific characters, type in the starting character or characters of these position title descriptions. |

Current Department |
The department to which the employee belongs. To view all the descriptions of the current departments containing specific characters, type in the starting character or characters of these department descriptions. |

Current Job Title |
The title of the employee current job. To view all the descriptions of the current job titles containing specific characters, type in the starting character or characters of these job title descriptions. |

Use the fields below to specify dates to indicate the probable period during which the employee was hired or rehired.
Date of Hire/Rehire From |
The date on or after which the employee was hired or rehired. For example, if you enter 09/16/01, the system fetches the records of employees who were hired/rehired after this date. |
Date of Hire/Rehire To |
The date before which the employee was hired/rehired. For example, if you enter 11/11/01, the system fetches the records of employees who joined till this date. |
Note: To indicate the probable period in which the employee has been hired/rehired, enter both the From and To dates of hire/rehire. The system fetches the records of employees who joined during the period.
Date of Promotion/Transfer From |
The date on or after which the employee has been promoted, transferred or promoted with transfer. For example, if you enter 10/12/01, the system fetches the records of employees who were promoted, transferred or promoted with transfer after this date. |
Date of Promotion/Transfer To |
The date before which the employee has been promoted, transferred or promoted with transfer. For example, if you enter 25/12/01, the system fetches the records of employees who were promoted, transferred or promoted with transfer before this date. |
Status |
The status of the employee movement record. Indicate if you want to select a new record or a record which has been submitted previously but has subsequently been rejected or a record which is pending for authorization etc. From the drop-down list box, select one of the following options: If you select, |

“Authorize - Reject”, you indicate that you want to select an employee career movement record that has been rejected. |
|
“Pending Authorization”, you indicate that you want to select an employee career movement record that has not yet been authorized. |

“None”, you indicate that want to select an employee career movement record in which the promotion/transfer process has not been initiated. |
Promotion/Transfer Rule |
Indicate if you want to search for the required record among records in which the promotion/transfer process has been initiated based on predefined rules. Rules are mapped to employees through the HR Application Tools component with which the specified Employee Movements component is interacting. |

From the drop-down list box, select “Yes” or “No” to indicate. If you select “Yes”, the system fetches the record from the records in which the promotion/transfer process has been effected based on predefined rules. If you select “No”, the system fetches the record from the records in which the promotion/transfer process has not been based on predefined rules. |
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
Note: If only one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the records that satisfy this value. If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the records satisfying all the specified values. If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group box and select the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the records that are available for the specified employee movement unit.
The system displays the following details in the multiline, for the employee movement records that satisfy the specified search criteria.
Employee Code |
The unique code of the employee. |
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. |
Current Employment Unit |
The employment unit to which the employee is currently attached. |
Current Position |
The position currently held by the employee, for example, Senior Manager, Vice President etc. |
Current Department |
The department in which the employee is currently employed, for example, Finance, HR etc. |
Current Job Title |
The title of the employee’s current job, for example, Senior Marketing Manager, HR Coordinator etc. |
Hire/Rehire Date |
The date on which the employee has been hired/rehired. |
Promotion/Transfer Date |
The Latest date on which the employee has been promoted/transferred. |
Status |
The status of the promotion/transfer record. If the selected recorded has already been submitted for authorization and has not yet been authorized, the system displays the status as “Pending Authorization”, if the record has been submitted for authorization and has been rejected, the system displays the status as “Authorize Reject”. If the promotion/transfer process has not yet been initiated, the system displays the authorization status as “None”. |
Promotion/Transfer Rule |
Indicates if the promotion, transfer or promotion with transfer of the employee has been effected based on the applicable rules or otherwise. “Yes” indicates the promotion, transfer or promotion with transfer has been effected based on applicable rules. “No” indicates otherwise. |
Select the hyperlink on the name of the required employee movement record in the “Search Results” multiline.
The “Initiate Employee Promotion/Transfer” page appears.
