Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This activity allows you to create regular and pre-loaded engineering documents in bulk.

The “Bulk Load Engineering Documents” page appears.

The system displays the following field:

Date & Time Format

The format in which the date & time fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default.

Load Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the load type for the engineering documents. The system lists the following options:

  • “Pre-load” – Select this option to create pre-loaded engineering documents.

  • “Regular” – Select this option to create regular engineering documentsz.

The system sets this field to “Pre-load” by default.

Numbering Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the numbering type in which the engineering document number must be generated. The system lists all the numbering types defined in the “Create Numbering Type” activity of the “Document Numbering Class” business component for the “Engineering Document” transaction.

The system displays only the “Manual” option, if the “Engineering Document Numbering” field is set as “Manual” in the “Set Options” activity.

MCR Source Doc Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the modification document or the source document. The system lists all the ‘active’ modification document types created in the “Create MCR Document Type” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Copy Eng. Doc # as MCR #

Check this box, if you wish to copy the engineering document number specified in the “Eng. Doc #” field, as the “MCR #”.

This option must be enabled, only if the “Numbering Type” is set as “Manual”.

Applicability

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the engineering document is applicable for “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. The system leaves this field blank by default.

Work Center #

Use the drop-down list box to specify the work center where the engineering change must be performed. The system lists all the work centers that are applicable to the organization units for which the login user has access rights. The system leaves this field blank by default.

Est. Elapsed Hours

The total time estimated for completing the engineering document (Decimal). Ensure that the value entered in this field is greater than zero.

Est. Man Hours

The total man-hours estimated for “Skill” type resources to execute the  engineering document (Decimal). Ensure that the value entered in this field is greater than zero.

Note: The system considers the "MCR Source Doc Type", "Applicability", "Work Center #", "Est. Elapsed Hours" and Est. Man Hours", only for those rows for which the corresponding fields are not entered in the "Engineering document Details" multiline.

Eng. Doc #

The unique number identifying the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Numbering Type” is set as “Manual”.

Leave this field blank, if the “Eng Doc Numbering” field is set as “System Generated” in the “Set Options” activity.

Eng. Doc Category

Use the drop-down list to select the category to which the engineering document belongs. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “Eng.Doc - Category” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity.

Do not leave this field blank.

Subject

The textual description of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory.

ATA #

The ATA chapter on which the engineering document must be executed (Alphanumeric, 16). Mandatory. The ATA chapter number should be in “Active” status as defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” of the “Aircraft” business component.

MCR #

The number identifying the maintenance change request for which the engineering document is created (Alphanumeric, 40).

MCR Revision #

The revision number of the MCR (Alphanumeric, 40).

Source Doc Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the modification document or the source document. The system lists all the ‘active’ modification document types created in the “Create MCR Document Type” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. The system leaves this field blank by default.

This field must be entered if the “MCR Source Doc Type” field in the “Default Details” group box is left blank.

Eff. From Date

The date from which the MCR is effective (Date Format).

MCM #

The number identifying the Modification Committee Meeting (MCM) that processed the change request (Alphanumeric, 40).

MCM Date

The date on which the MCM was convened (Date Format). The date specified here must be earlier than the current system date.

Applicability

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the engineering document is applicable for “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. The system leaves this field blank by default.

This field must be entered if the “Applicability” field in the “Default Details” group box is left blank.

Effectivity Ref. Eng Doc #

The number identifying the reference engineering document from which you wish to copy the effectivity to the engineering document specified in the “Eng Doc #” field (Alphanumeric, 40). The engineering document number entered here must be in “Released” status, as defined in the current business component. The system considers the latest revision number of the engineering document entered here, for copying the effectivity details.

Note: The applicability of the engineering documents, specified in the “Effectivity Ref. Eng Doc #” and the “Eng Doc #” fields, must be the same.

Work Unit Type

Note: The applicability of the engineering documents, specified in the “Effectivity Ref. Eng Doc #” and the “Eng Doc #” fields, must be the same.

Work Unit #

The number identifying the work unit for which the engineering document is applicable (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the work unit number entered here is a valid task or a standard procedure defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.

The system considers only the latest revision of the work unit.

This work unit must be part of at least one maintenance program.

Note: If the “Load Type” is set as “Regular”, both “Work Unit Type” and “Work Unit #” fields must be left blank.

Priority

Use the drop-down list box to set the priority for the engineering document. The system lists all the priority descriptions defined in the “Create Priority Numbers” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. By default, the system displays the lowest priority description.

Eng Doc Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the  engineering document. The system provides the following options:

  • Replacement - Select this option if the  engineering document is generated for the replacement of a part.

  • Retrofitment - Select this option if the  engineering document is generated for servicing the existing part.

  • Task Improvisation - Select this option if the  engineering document is generated for revising the existing task details.

  • Task Schedule Related - Select this option if the  engineering document is generated for changing the schedule details of the task.

  • Informative - Select this option if the  engineering document is informational and need not be executed.

Do not leave this field blank.

Schedule Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the engineering document must be performed on a “One-Time” or “Recurring” basis.

  • One-Time - Select this option to indicate that the  engineering document must be executed only once.

  • Recurring – Select this option to indicate that the  engineering document must be executed at repeated intervals.

The system sets this field to “One-Time” by default.

Background Details

The textual description of the background information such as the prerequisites for the current change (Alphanumeric, 255).

Reason

The textual information detailing the reason for which the  engineering document is created (Alphanumeric, 2000).

Primary Work Center #

Use the drop-down list box to specify the primary work center for the engineering document. The system lists all the work centers applicable for the organization units for which login user has access rights. The system leaves this field blank by default.

This field must be entered, if the “Work Center #” field in the “Default Details” group box is left blank.

Time Unit

Use the drop-down list box to select the time unit for the time estimated to complete the engineering document. The system lists the options “Days”, Hours” and “Minutes”. The system leaves this field blank by default.

Est. Elapsed Time

The total time estimated for completing the engineering document (Decimal). This field must be entered, if the “Est. Elapsed Hours” field in the “Default Details” group box is left blank.

Ensure that the value entered in this field is greater than zero.

Note: Ensure that “Time Unit” is specified, if the “Est. Elapsed Time” is entered.

The system sets the “Time Unit” as "Hours", if "Est. Elapsed Time" is left blank in the multiline and the "Est. Elapsed Hours" is entered in the "Default Details" group box.

Est. Man Hrs.

The total man-hours estimated for “Skill” type resources to execute the engineering document (Decimal). This field must be entered, if the “Est. Man Hours” field in the “Default Details” group box is left blank.

Ensure that the value entered in this field is greater than zero.

On-Wing?

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes”, if the engineering change must be performed when the part is fitted to the aircraft. Else, set this field to “No”.

The system sets this field to “No” by default.

Direct Execution?

Use the drop-down list box and set this field to “Yes”, if the work order must be automatically generated after the release of engineering document. Else, set this field to “No”.

The system sets this field to “No” by default.

Mod Status #

The modification status number of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 15).

Test Flight Reqd.?

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes”, if a trial run is required for the aircraft, after the changes are carried out. Else, set this field to “No”.

The system sets this field to “No” by default.

Change In Weight

The change in the weight of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

Change In Moment

The change in moment of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

Change In Electrical Load

The change in the electrical load of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

The system displays the following field in the “Engineering Document Details” multiline:

Effectivity Count

The total number of aircraft or components, for which the engineering document is effective.

File Name

The file name of the document attached to engineering document (Alphanumeric, 50).

The system displays the following fields, on clicking the “Create Engineering Document” pushbutton:

Created By

The name of the login user who created the engineering documents.

Created Date

The date on which the engineering documents are created.

Note: If this page is launched for the first time, you cannot click the “Previous” or “Next” pushbuttons before creating the engineering documents.

Also, you cannot click the “Previous” and “Next” pushbuttons before confirming the modified records in the multiline.

To create engineering documents

Eng. Doc #

Use the drop-down list box to specify the engineering document for which the effectivity details must be retrieved. If this page is launched for the first time, the system leaves this field blank. Else, the system lists all the pre-loaded engineering documents and sets the field to blank by default.

Eng. Doc #

 

The number identifying the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Ensure that the engineering document number entered here is valid as defined in the current business component.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following field in the “Effectivity Details” multiline:

Subject

The textual description of the engineering document.

Aircraft Reg #

The registration number of the aircraft for which the engineering document is applicable (Alphanumeric, 30). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the engineering document is applicable for “Aircraft”.

Ensure that the aircraft registration number specified here is valid as defined in the “Aircraft” business component.

Part #

The number identifying the part on which the engineering document must be executed (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the engineering document is applicable for an “Engine” or “Component”.

Ensure that the part number entered here is valid as defined in the “Part Administration” business component.

Serial #

The serial number of the part on which the engineering document must be executed (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the engineering document is applicable for an “Engine” or “Component”.

Ensure that the value entered here is a valid serial number for the part, as available in the “Stock Maintenance” business component.

Complied ?

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the engineering document has been complied for the aircraft/component/engine based on the applicability. The system lists the options “Yes” and “No” and sets this field to “Yes” by default.

Select “No”, if the “Load Type” field is set to “Regular”.

Compliance Date

The date on which the engineering document was complied (Date Format).

Compliance Time

The time at which the engineering document was complied (Time Format).

Execution Doc. #

The number identifying the physical document containing the engineering document execution details (Alphanumeric, 40).

Remarks

Any other comments pertaining to the effectivity details of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 255).

Note: If the “Complied ?” field is set to “Yes”, you must enter the “Compliance Date”, “Compliance Time”, “Execution Doc #” and “Remarks” fields.

Ensure that at least one record exists in the multiline.

Note: You cannot click the “Previous” and “Next” pushbuttons, before updating the effectivity details for the engineering document.
