Create Flight Delay Codes – A summary of the activity

Common Masters - An Overview

What you con do in this activity

Delays can occur at the arrival and departure of an aircraft owing to various reasons such as technical failure, unfavorable weather condition, security checks etc. The “Create Flight Delay Codes” activity enables you to categorize the delay reasons and identify each of these delay reasons with a unique code and description. These delay codes can later be used to record the delay information of an aircraft. The delay codes can be broadly categorized, as per IATA convention, based on the reason for the delay as “Passenger and Baggage”, “Cargo and Mail”, “Aircraft and Ramp Handling”, “Technical and Aircraft Equipment”, “Damage to Aircraft & EDP / Automated Equipment Failure”, “Flight Operation and Crewing”, “Weather”, “Airport and Government Authorities”, “Reactionary” and “Miscellaneous”. For example if the delay was caused by a faulty cargo electric pump and the cargo doors had to be closed manually you can categorize the delay caused as “Damage to Aircraft & EDP / Automated Equipment Failure”.  Also such delay categorization helps in preparing reliability reports for the fleet for a given period.

This activity also allows you to classify the delay codes into various types as “IATA”, ”ICAO” and “Other”. The system assigns the "Active" status as soon as the delay code is created and stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the created date.
