How to use the web page

Using online help

Choose the Tax Year

From the drop-down list box, select the tax year for which withholding allowances are to be declared. The drop-down list box displays all the tax years defined in the “Create Tax Year” activity. By default the system displays the latest tax year.

Note: When you select previous year then the last submitted record available for that respective year is displayed.

Last Modified By

This field is displayed on submission based on the user login details.

Last Modified Date

This field is displayed based on the date on which the user submitted the record.

The Record W-4 screen is divided into two panes:

Employee Details   

The following details are displayed under this section:

Employee Name-Code

The name and code of the employee.

SSN

The social security number of the employee.

Note: This refers to the number issued by the Social Security Administration to a U.S. citizen or to a person sanctioned by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to work in the United States.

Address

The address details of the employee.

Declaration

To record withholding allowances,

Filing Status

From the drop-down list box, select the filing status of the employee. The drop-down displays all the filing statuses applicable for the federal withholdings. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page.

Total No. of Allowances

Enter the total number of withholding allowances to be claimed.

Additional Withholding

The amount the employee wants to withhold per pay period, to increase the amount of tax to be paid. From the drop-down box, select the required option. The combo is defaulted with “Amount” and “Percentage” options for you to choose. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page.

Exempt Federal Tax

Select “Yes” radio button to exempt federal tax from claiming withholding allowances for the selected year otherwise click “No”. By default the option would be selected as “Yes”.
