Part Type

The type of the interchangeable part.

Note: The part type of both the referenced part and the alternate part must be the same. Additionally, ensure that the part control type of the referenced part is the same as the alternate part. This means if the part control type of the referenced part is set to lot controlled or serial controlled or none-controlled, the part control type of the alternate part must also be the same.

Interchangeability Rules

Use the drop-down list box to select the method in which the part can be alternated for the reference part.

  • One Way – indicates that the alternate part can substitute the reference part, but the vice versa is not allowed.

  • Two Way – indicates that the alternate part and the reference part are interchangeable, that is, they can be substituted for each other.

The system displays “One Way” by default.

Note: If the interchangeability rule is set as “One Way”, ensure that the specified interchangeable part number is not the prime part of the “Part #” entered in the “Part Information” group box.

Note: If the interchangeability rule is set as “One Way” and if the “Interchangeable Part #” is a prime part for the “”Part #” entered in the “Part Information” group box, the system deletes the “Part #” as an alternate to the prime part. For example, if P1 is “Part #” and PP1 is the prime part for the “Interchangeable Part #” and if the interchangeability rule is set as “One Way”, the system deletes the entry of P1 as an alternate to PPI.

Order of Preference

The precedence accorded to the interchangeable part numbers (Alphanumeric, 6). The reference part number will be alternated based on this precedence. The order of preference must be unique across organization units.

Note: If the Order of Preferences is provided then the preference shall be based on the ascendance rule. i e 1 will be given the highest preference.

Help facility available

Note: Ensure that the part types of the parts listed in the multiline and the part in the "Part Information" group box are same.

Note: If an interchangeable part is selected for deletion, ensure that the selected interchangeable part is not a prime part of the “Part #” entered in the “Part Information” group box.

Note: When you delete an interchangeable part record with a two-way interchangeability rule, the system automatically sets the interchangeability rule of the referenced part with regard to the interchangeable part to one-way. Similarly, if you change the interchangeability rule attribute to one-way from two-way, the interchangeability rule automatically becomes two-way for the referenced part in the interchangeable part record.

On deletion of an alternate part with the Interchangeability Rule set as 'Two Way', the system removes the alternate mapping between both the parts, if

However, “Deletion of two way alternate part definition upon deletion of one way” is set as “Manual” or left blank or, if the part is a prime part for the deleted alternate part, the part still remains an alternate part for the removed alternate part while the Interchangeability Rule is set to 'One Way'.
