Help on engineering document
This page allows you to retrieve the details of engineering documents that are already defined. You can carry out the search using the engineering document number, revision number, category and applicability. The system displays details such as engineering document number, revision number, ED category and subject.
Click the lens icon positioned next to the “Eng. Doc #” field in the main page.
The “Help on Engineering Document” page appears.
Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a work unit. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Display Option |
Use the drop-down list box to select any one of the following Display options.
The system leaves the field ’Distinct Eng. Docs’ by default. The system defaults the value “Eng. Docs & Appl. Group” if the page is launched from the “Process Change Request” page. |
Eng. Doc. # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the Eng.Doc Type. The system loads all the "Active" 'Document Types' defined under the "Eng. Doc Type" in the 'Configure Document Attributes' activity under the 'Common Masters' business component interacting with the current login OU. Enter the number identifying the engineering document for which the details are to be viewed (Alphanumeric, 40) in the adjacent text field. You can enter the number in full, or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents that are similar to the value entered here. |
Eng. Doc. Rev. # |
The number identifying the revision made to the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full, or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents with revision numbers similar to the value entered here. |
Subject |
The textual description of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the subject in full, or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents with description similar to the text entered here. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the engineering document. The system displays the options: “Closed”, “Fresh”, “Released” and “Revised”. The system retrieves all the engineering documents whose status match the status selected here. The system leaves this field blank by default. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve engineering documents irrespective of the status. |
Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the engineering document. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “ED Category” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves all the engineering documents that belong to the category selected here. The system leaves this field blank by default. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve engineering documents irrespective of the status. |
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined status of the engineering document. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “ED User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves all the engineering documents whose user-defined status match the status selected here. The system leaves this field blank by default. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve engineering documents irrespective of the status. |
Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to select the applicability of the engineering document. The system displays the options: “Aircraft”, “Component”, and “Engine”. The system retrieves all the engineering documents whose applicability match the option selected here. The system displays “Aircraft” by default. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents containing ATA chapter number similar to the value entered here. Leave the field blank to retrieve the all the engineering documents irrespective of the ATA chapter number. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents applicable to the aircraft registration number entered here. |
Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the aircraft model (Alphanumeric, 20). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents applicable to the aircraft model specified here. |
Component # |
The number identifying the component on which the ED must be executed (Alphanumeric, 90). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents executed on the component specified here. |
Part # / Serial # |
The number identifying the part on which the ED must be executed (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents executed on the part specified here. Enter the serial number of the part on which the ED must be executed (Alphanumeric, 40) in the adjacent field. |
Click the “Search” button to display the search results.
The system fills in the following fields in the ”Search Results” multiline, based on the filter criteria entered:

The number identifying the engineering document applicability group. |
Applicability |
The applicability of the engineering document, which can be “aircraft”, “component” or “engine”. |
Status |
The status of the engineering document, which can be “Closed”, “Fresh”, “Released” and “Revised”. |
User Status |
The user-defined status specified for the engineering document. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter on which the engineering document is executed. |
Category |
The category to which the engineering document belongs. |
Subject |
The textual description of the engineering document. |
Click the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the engineering document.
Click the “OK” button.
