Updating part configuration information
This page allows you to add or modify the configuration details defined for the selected part. Tell me more
Select the “Build Part Configuration” link in the “Select Part” page. Alternatively, click the hyperlinked part number in the same page.
The “Build Part Configuration” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date field is displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
Enter the following field in the “Part Details” group box:
Part # |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the part for which you wish to create or modify the configuration details. Ensure that the part has already been defined in the “Create Parts Main Information“ activity of “Parts Administration“ business component and is in “Active” status. Further, the part type of the part must be “Component”. By default, the system lists the part selected in the “Select Part” page. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify manufacturer part # and manufacturer # of the part for which you wish to create configuration or modify existing configuration details. Ensure that the part is been defined in the “Create Parts Main Information” activity of “Parts Administration“ business component and that is in “Active” status. By default, the drop-own list box displays manufacturer part # and manufacturer # that you selected in the “Select Part” page. |
If you have already defined the configuration for the selected part, on clicking the “Next Level” or the “Previous Level” pushbutton, the system lists the child part or the parent parts in this drop-down list box.
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the details of the selected part in the “Part Details” group box.
The system fills in the following fields in the “Part Details” group box:

The type of the component, to which the part belongs. |

The base part number of the part. |

The manufacturer of the part. |

The ATA chapter to which the part belongs. |

The textual description of the part. |
The system displays the part configuration details in the form of a tree structure. The configuration details, such as "Position Code", "Part #", "Part Description", "Part Serial #" and "Component ID" are displayed for the part. The configuration tree is displayed in the following format.

Note: On selection of a node in the tree structure, the system automatically retrieves the corresponding part details in the “Part Details” group box, and the child part details in the “Next Level Details” multiline.

The revision number of the part configuration. The system displays the revision number corresponding to the status of the part configuration. |

Check one or more of the following boxes, if you wish the part to inherit the configuration details of an existing part:

Check this box to copy all the configuration details of the part such as position code, part number, sequence number, status of the position code, position code type, RVSM, cargo, zone, ATA chapter number, base part number, part description, drawing number, document path and piece part details. |

Check this box to copy only the piece part details defined for the part. |
Note: If you have already defined the configuration details for the selected part, the system appends the copied details to the existing configuration details.
When creating the Part Configuration with ‘All’ or ‘Piece Part’ copy option, on save the system inherits the Piece Part Information available in the source part #. While copying the configuration from the source part #, the Higher level part cannot be copied.
The system displays the following fields in the “Next Level Details” multiline if you have already defined the configuration details for the part selected in the “Part Details” group box.
Enter the following fields in the multiline to define the configuration for the part selected in the “Part #” field in the “Part Details” group box:
Seq # |
The sequence number for the position code (Integer). Ensure that the sequence number is a positive integer. If you leave the sequence number blank, then on clicking the "Build Part Configuration" pushbutton, the system automatically assigns a sequence number to each position code, in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, by incrementing the sequence number of the position codes already existing in the multiline. |
Note: If the sequence number is duplicated in the multiline, then the sequence number is sorted based on the level code corresponding to the position code.
Position Code |
The code identifying the position in the part selected in the “Part Details” group box, where the child part will be fitted (Alphanumeric, 25). Mandatory. Once created, the position codes defined for the part cannot be modified or deleted. Ensure that the position codes are unique for the selected part. The position code is mandatory, if you have provided the manufacturer part # or the manufacturer #. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the position code, which could be either “Active” or “Inactive”. |
Set the status to “Inactive” if you wish to disable this position code due to a modification in the configuration, which will make the position code defunct or physically non-existent. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the position code. The system provides the options, “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gear” and “Others”. |
Note: For a given part, ensure that the number of position codes of type. 2) The number of position codes of type “Engine” or “APU” is less than or equal to the total number of engines or APUs defined for the configuration class of the aircraft model to which the part number is associated.
RVSM |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the child part can be used in an aircraft, which can fly in the “RVSM” limit. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No”. |
Cargo |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the child part can be used in a cargo aircraft. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No”. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter to be associated to the position code (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter number has already been defined in the “Create ATA chapter” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and is in “Active” status. |

Note: If this field is left blank, the system automatically associates the ATA chapter that is already associated to the part number in the “Maintain Part Information” activity of the “Aircraft” business component, to the respective position codes in the multiline.
The system fills in the following fields in the multiline on clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton, if the part configuration details have already been defined:

Enter the following field:
Equipment Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the equipment that can be attached to the position code in the part. The drop-down list box displays the ‘Active’ equipment categories defined under all equipment groups in the Maintain Cabin Equipment List activity of Configuration. Additionally, the Active equipment categories not associated with any equipment group (Equipment Group set as “Not Applicable”) also appear in the drop-down list box. Note: Equipment groups are quick codes defined under the quick code type “Equipment Group” in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of Aircraft. |

Select a record in the multiline for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the record selected in the multiline.
Note: You cannot delete the position codes that are automatically retrieved in the multiline.
If you wish to insert position codes in the multiline and assign sequence number for them, click the “Re - Number” pushbutton to rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the sequence number. The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added position code.
Select the "View File" link provided at the bottom of the multiline, to view the file details
Click one of the following pushbuttons in the “Traverse Configuration” group box to traverse through the different levels in the configuration hierarchy:

Click this pushbutton if you wish to modify the configuration details for the parent of the selected part. |
Note: Before clicking this pushbutton ensure that the NHA is available for the part number in the multiline.
On clicking this pushbutton the system displays the parent part number of the selected part, in the “Part #” field of the “Part Details” group box, and the configuration details of the parent part are displayed in the respective fields in the multiline. If more than one parent exists for the selected part, the system lists all the parent part numbers in the “Part #” drop-down list box from which you can select the parent part for which the configuration details must be displayed.
Next Level |
Click this pushbutton if you wish to define or modify the configuration details for the child part selected in the multiline. |
On clicking the “Next Level” pushbutton, the system displays the selected child part number in the “Part #” field of the “Part Details” group box, and the configuration details of the child part are displayed in the respective fields in the multiline.
Note: Ensure that only one record in the multiline is selected and the “Next level (Y/N)” field is set to “Yes”. Also, the position code of the selected child part should be in “Active” status.
Enter the following:
Inherit Changes to Component |
Check this box if you wish to apply the part configuration changes to the configuration of all the components belonging to the part. |
Enter the following field in the "Document Attachment Details" group box:

Select the "View File" link alongside to view the file details.
Click the “Build Part Configuration” pushbutton to update the part configuration details.
Note: If the part configuration is in “Fresh” or “Cancelled” status, the system updates the part configuration details with the current revision number.
The system automatically changes the status of the “Active” part configuration to “Fresh” and increments the existing revision number, when any of the following is performed:
the position code status is modified.
the part number is modified.
a new position code is added.
the position code type is modified.
The system displays the following details in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Select the “Edit Piece Part List” link at the bottom of the page to add or modify the details of the piece parts identified for the part.
Select the “Edit Notes” link at the bottom of the page to modify the general information pertaining to the part configuration.
Select the “Main Part Program” link at the bottom of the page to modify the part program.
Updating part configuration information – An overview
This page allows you to add or modify the configuration details defined for the selected part. You can create a new configuration for the part by associating position codes and part numbers to it. Position codes are the identifications of the physical locations in the structure of the aircraft to which the rotables can be fitted. You can attach zones and ATA chapters to a position code. Position codes help in tracking the movement of the rotables attached to them at various points in time.
A single part can have more than one position code associated to it and can be termed as the parent part. Each of the position codes associated to the part can in turn be associated to another part number, which can be termed as the child part. The child part can have a configuration of its own and thus the position code and part number association can form a hierarchy. This page allows you to traverse through each level of the hierarchy and define the configuration details for the parts. The part configuration hierarchy is illustrated in Figure 1.

You can copy the configuration details that are already defined for an existing part into the selected part. You can associate a position code and a child part number to the part configuration. You can specify the status of the position code, the type of the position code, whether the child part can be used in the cargo aircraft and whether the child part can be used in the aircraft which can fly in the “Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum” limit. You can attach zones and ATA chapters to the position codes associated to the parent part. The drawing that depicts the configuration details of the child part and the path where the drawing resides can also be specified.
You can also specify whether the changes made to the part configuration can be applied to all the components belonging to that part.
The system updates the part configuration details and sets the status as “Fresh” for a newly created part configuration. If the part configuration that is already in “Fresh” status is modified, the system retains the status as “Fresh”. You can cancel the part configuration that is in “Fresh” status in this page. On cancellation, the status changes to “Cancelled”. The part configuration can be approved using the “Approve Part Number and Component Configuration” activity, and the status changes to “Active”. If the part configuration in “Active” status is modified in this page, the system resets the status to “Fresh” and increments the revision number by one after updating the configuration details.
The system also stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.

Copy details from an existing part configuration
You can copy details from part configuration that are already defined. The system allows you to copy all the details, or selectively copy only the piece part details to the part configuration that is being defined.
Enter the part number from which details must be copied, in the “Copy Details” group box.
Check one of the boxes “All” or “Piece Part” to specify the details to be copied.
Click “Update Part Configuration” pushbutton to copy the details.
Specify the component type that can be fitted in the position code
The position codes, are the identifiers of the physical locations in the aircraft structure, where rotables can be fitted. You can specify the position code, type of the component, that is, “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gear” or any other component type, that can be placed in the position code.
Set the “Position Code Type” drop-down list box to “Engine” to specify the component of type engine can be fitted in the position code.
Set the “Position Code Type” drop-down list box to “APU” to specify the component of type APU can be fitted in the position code.
Set the “Position Code Type” drop-down list box to “Landing Gear” to specify the component of type landing gear can be fitted in the position code.
Set the “Position Code Type” drop-down list box to “Others” to specify the component of type other than engine, APU and landing gear can be fitted in the position code.
The changes made to the part configuration can be applied to all the components belonging to that part.
Check the “Inherit Changes to Component” box if you wish to apply the part configuration changes to the configuration of all the components belonging to the part.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the part for which you wish to modify the configuration details for its parent.
Click “Previous Level “pushbutton to modify the configuration details for the parent of the selected part.
The system displays the parent part number of the selected part, in the “Part #” field of the “Part Details” group box. Also the configuration details of the parent part are displayed in the respective fields in the multiline. If more than one parent exists for the selected part, the system lists all the parent part numbers in the “Part #” drop-down list box from which you can select the parent part for which the configuration details must be modified.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the child part for which you wish to define or modify the configuration details.
Click “Next Level” pushbutton to define or modify the configuration details for the child part selected in the multiline.
The system displays the selected child part number in the “Part #” field of the “Part Details” group box. And the configuration details of the child part are displayed in the respective fields in the “Next Level Details” multiline.
