Defining position based parts interchangeability rule for model configuration
In this page you can define the position based parts interchangeability rule for the model configuration. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Part Interchangeability Rules” link at the bottom of the “Edit Position Attributes” page.
The “Edit Part Interchangeability Rules” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Model Details” group box:
Aircraft Model # |
The aircraft model for which the part interchangeability rule details must be defined. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the model configuration. |
Configuration Class |
The configuration class to which the aircraft model is associated. |
Level Code |
The level at which the reference position code occurs in model configuration hierarchy. |
Ref. Position Code |
The position code selected in the main screen, for which the list of interchangeable parts must be defined. |
Reference Part # |
The part associated to the position code, for which the list of interchangeable parts must be defined. |
Note: The system lists the interchangeable part numbers that are already defined for the reference position code and reference part number, in the multiline.
Enter the following field in the “Interchangeability Rules” multiline:
Interchangeable Part # |
The part that can be fitted in place of the reference part number, in the reference position code (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the “Mod Status” field is entered. The part number must have already been defined as “Component” type in the "Create Parts Main Information" activity of the “Part Administration“ business component and should be in “Active” status. Ensure that this part is applicable for model configuration. |
Help facility available. |
Note: Ensure that the part number is unique in the multiline.
The system displays the following field:
Part description |
The textual description of the interchangeable part. |
Enter the following field:
Order of Preference |
The preferred order in which the interchangeable part must be considered for fitting in the reference position code (Integer). Ensure that the order of preference is specified for all the records in the multiline, if the interchangeable part number is available. |
Note: Ensure that the number is unique in the multiline. If you leave this field blank and a value exists in the “Interchangeable Part #” field, the system generates the order of preference automatically in the order of definition.
Mod Status # |
The modified part number (dash number). You can also enter the engineering order reference number due to which the part has been changed (Alphanumeric, 15). |
Remarks |
Any remarks regarding the configuration. When a remark is entered, then the position code is mandatory. |
Note: Ensure that atleast one interchangeable part number is entered in the multiline. The system generates a unique id for each record against the remarks. The remarks added are displayed in the “View Notes Information” page.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline if you wish to mark the interchangeable part for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the interchangeable parts selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Part Interchangeability Rules” pushbutton to update the interchangeability rule details.
If the new interchangeable rules are added to or deleted from the Reference Part # - Position code, the system copies the new rules or deletes the existing rules to / from the corresponding Reference Part # - Position Code - Level Code - Configuration Class - Model combination in the Aircraft Configuration.
If the rule attributes e.g. ‘Order of Preference’ and ‘Mod Status #’ are modified for the existing records, the system updates the modified values to the corresponding Reference Part # - Position Code - Level Code - Configuration Class - Model combination.
Note: The addition / deletion / modification mentioned above happen only if the Model Configuration is in “Active” status and if the “Inherit Changes to Aircraft” box is checked for the Revision # in the “Build Model Configuration” page of the current business component.
Note: Attribute modifications are inherited only to the Aircraft Reg #s which are in “Active” and “Under Creation” statuses and to the Aircraft configuration which is in “Active” and “Fresh” statuses.
Defining position based parts interchangeability rule for model configuration – An overview
The parts interchangeability rule defines the list of alternate part numbers that can be placed in the reference position code, in place of the reference part number, if the reference part number is not available.
The system displays the reference position code and the reference part selected in the main screen. You can enter the interchangeable part numbers for the reference part number, the preferred order in which the interchangeable parts must be considered and the part modification status.
The system updates the part interchangeability rule details and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
