Select the “Maintain Forecasting Bases” link under the “Management Accounting” business component.
The "Maintain Forecasting Bases" page appears.
Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to find the cost element for which you want to define the forecasting basis.
CC Structure ID |
Use the drop-down list report to specify the cost center structure. The system displays the cost center structures defined in the Cost Setup component. |
CE Structure ID |
The cost element structure Mandatory . The system displays the cost element structures associated with the cost center you selected in the CC structure ID field. Help facility available |
Note: The CE structure ID that you specify must have an “Active” status.
The system displays the following for the values selected in the above fields.
CC Structure Description |
The name / description of the cost center structure. |
CE Structure Description |
The name / description of the cost element structure. |
Enter the following in the Search Criteria group box.
With Effect From |
The start-date of the period for which the forecast is valid (Date Format) Mandatory. |
Note: The date you specify in the above field must be the start-date of a MAC period.
To Date |
The end-date of the period for which the forecast is valid (Date Format) Mandatory. |
Note: The date you specify in the “To Date” field must be the end-date of a MAC period. Additionally, the date you specify must be later than the date entered in the “With Effect From” field.
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
Note: The system does not allow you to define the forecast, if you have already defined it for any part of the specified period.
The “Search Results” multiline displays the following.
Cost Element |
The cost elements defined under the cost element structure specified in the CE Structure ID field in the “Search Criteria” group box. |
Note: You must specify the cost element, if are to select “User Defined” in the 'Logic Based On”, “Flat” in the Basis and “% on Actuals” in the Incremental Basis fields.
Enter the following in the “Search Results” multiline.
Logic Based On |
Use the drop-down list box to define the logic. The system displays the following values: User defined, Material Revenue, Labour Revenue, Services Revenue, Material Cost, Labour Cost, Services Cost, Payroll Cost and, Not Applicable |
Basis |
Use the drop-down list box to define the basis of computation. The system displays the following values: Flat, Actuals, % on Element, Per Labour Hour and, Advanced Formula. |
Note: You must select the “per Labour Hour” option, if you have selected any one of the following options in the “Logic Based On” field- Material Revenue, Labour Revenue, Services Revenue, Material Cost, Labour Cost, Services Cost or Payroll Cost.

Use the drop-down list box to select the basis of increment for the The system displays the following values: Flat, % on Actuals, % on Base Value and % on Previous Value. |
Incremental Value |
The amount of increase over the pervious or actual amount of expenditure for the cost element. |
Note: You must specify an incremental value, 1) If the Logic Based On is “User Defined”, Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is “% on Previous value”. 2) If the Logic Based On is “User Defined”, Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is also “Flat”. 3) If Logic Based On is “User Defined”, Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is “'% on Previous Value”. 4) Logic based on is 'User defined', Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is “% on Actuals”.
Actuals |
The amount of expenditure incurred on the cost element during the period between the specified “With Effect From” and “To Date” dates. |
Note: You must specify an incremental value, 1) if the Logic Based On is “User Defined”, Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is “% on Actuals”. 2) If Logic Based on is “User Defined”, Basis is “Flat” and Incremental Basis is “'% on Actuals”.
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
Note: If the “To Date” is not specified for the previous forecast, the system defaults the field to a date that is a day earlier than the “Effective From” date.
To proceed
Select the “Set Formula” link to define the formula for computation of the forecast amount. Prior to this, you must select the box for the cost element to apply the formula.
Note: You can access this page only if you have selected User Defined in the “Logic Based on” field and “Advanced Formula” in the Basis column.
This page also facilitates the transfer of the forecasted revenues and costs for a cost element to a specified budget. However, the budget you specify must be associated with the cost center and cost element period. You can transfer any number of forecasted values to the budget till the status of the budget user is not “Confirmed”.
