Recording employee tax directives
Select the “Employee Tax Directives” link under the “Employee Tax Data – South Africa” business component.
The “Employee Tax Directives” page appears.
The system displays the following field.
Date Format |
The date format applicable to the login user. Tell me more. |
Enter the following:
Tax Setup Unit |
From the drop-down list box, select the organization unit for which tax details recorded. Tell me more. |
Tax Year |
From the drop-down list box, select the tax year for which the employee tax exemptions are computed. |
The system displays the following
From Date |
The date from which the employee tax directives are applicable. |
To Date |
The date until which the employee tax directives are applicable. |
Enter the following:
Tax Type |
From the drop-down list box, select any one of the following tax types

Default Tax Year |
From the drop-down list box, select the default tax year. Note that you can only select any previous tax year. |
Item |
From the drop-down list box, select the tax item for which you require to record the employee tax exemption. |
Department Code |
To view all the department codes containing specific character, type in the starting character or characters of these departments codes. Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Examples: DPT1*, D*T1 etc. |
Employee Code |
To view all the employee codes containing specific characters, type in the starting character or characters of these employee codes followed by wild card *. Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. |
Select the “Get” pushbutton.
The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline for existing records.
Enter the following fields for new records:
Employee Code |
The code identifying the employee. |
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. |
Item |
From the drop-down list box, select the tax item. For example, “Allowable PFC”. |
Exemption % |
The percentage of tax exemption allowed for the employee. |
Exempt Amount |
The maximum amount of tax exemption allowed for the employee. |
Per |
From the drop-down list box, select the frequency at which the tax exemption is computed. It may be month or year. |
Other Limit |
The other limit, which is the other details for computing the tax exemption for an employee. |
In Excess |
The amount in excess to the specified maximum tax exemption amount. This amount is used to compute the tax exemption for the employee based on a specific rule. |
Which Ever is |
The “Greater” or “Lesser” key word used to compute the tax exemption for an employee by applying the rule. |
Rule |
The rule that can be applied to compute the tax exemption for an employee |
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
To edit the employee tax exemption details
Select the Tax Setup Unit, Tax Year, Tax Type, and Tax Item.
Select the “Get Details” pushbutton.
The system displays the employee tax exemption details.
Edit the required details.
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
