Training Plan & Budget - An Overview

For any organization to prosper, employees should possess skills and knowledge to perform well on their jobs. The organizations needs to identify the competency gaps between that are required for performing a job effectively and that the person employed on the job possess. These skill gaps are those areas on which the individuals have to be trained.

Once the needs are established, the training needed would be prioritized and planned to concentrate on those areas of improvement, which could provide the organization with an increased and an immediate benefit.

This component facilitates Identifying competency gaps and qualification gaps, planning the training activities that address these competency gaps, budgeting the training activities and comparison of costs and budgets.

For every training calendar an organization has to plan and make a budget for a particular period.  This facility has been provided by this component.  The component facilitates the user to plan the training on basis of the identified competency and qualification gaps. The Training Budget has an option of being authorized.

Identify Competency /Qualification Gaps:  The training administrator can identify the competency gaps based on the employee’s current assignment. The gap is found between the competencies that are required for the job and that the employee possess.

The employee’s competency gaps can also be identified based on the department the employee is working on.  In such a case, the training administrator would get a list of competencies and the number of the employees who are lacking that particular competency.    These competency gaps could also be identified for a particular combination of Department & Job in the Organization.

Training Plan:  The training administrator would make a training plan to identify the programs, modules and courses and the number of times these should be conducted in order to reduce the competency gaps. The user has the option of viewing the Competency Gaps before preparing the Training Plan. The Training Plan is prepared for a particular period.

Training Budget: User could specify the Budget amount for Training for each of the departments in the Organization. Apart from specifying the Department Level Budget, the user could also specify an Organization Level Budget. This Organization Level Budget will allow the Training administrator to budget for certain training expenses which cannot be accounted against any particular department in the Organization. While specifying the Training Budget, the user has an option to select the currency in which the Budget has to be prepared. There cannot be more than one Training Budget for a period.

There is an option of Authorizing the Training Budget.  On Rejecting a Training Budget, A rejection reason is mandatory. The Training administrator could also compare the costs and budgets for a particular department.  The Training administrator could view the department level Variances as well as Organization Level Variances.
