Ensure that you are in the “Select Work location to Edit” page.
Enter the complete code of the work location in the “Work location Code” field.
Select the “Edit Work location” hyperlink beside the employee code field.
The system displays the “Edit Work location” page.
Use the search facility to fetch the required work location records in the multiline.
Select the data hyperlink on the short description of the required work location record.
The system displays the “Edit Work location” page.
The system displays the following details at the top of the page.
Date Format |
The date format that is applicable to the login user. |
Organization Structure Unit |
The organization unit in which the organization structure component is deployed. |
Work location Code |
The unique code of the selected work location. |
Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed. From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to retrieve the record in the selected language. |
You can use the “Access Data History” group box to view the effective dates of the previous versions of the work location record.
Effective From |
The date from which the corresponding version of the work location record is in effect. |
Effective To |
The date till which the corresponding version of the work location record is in effect. |
Select the “Previous” pushbutton to view the effective dates of the previous version of the record.
Select the “Next” pushbutton to view the effective dates of the next version of the record.
You can view and edit the following work location details.
Note: By default, the system displays the values specified previously for the details.
Work location Long Description |
A long description to make the work location description more clear. For example, if the short description entered is “CA”, you can enter the long description as “Southern California”. |
Work location Short Description |
A short description to identify the work location. For example, if the work location being edited is in California, you can enter the short description as “CA”. |
Inactive |
Indicate whether you want the work location to be active and available for use or otherwise. If the work location is active, it indicates that it is available for use in other activities. |

Effective From |
The date from which the new work location takes effect. |

The date is to be entered in the format set by the user in the Set Date Format activity. |
Address |
The complete address of the work location. |
ESI Not Applicable |
Select the check box if the ESI is not applicable for the work location. |
Country |
The country in which the work location is situated. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. The system lists the country names from the interacting Quick Codes component. |
State |
The state in which the work location is situated in the country specified. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. The system lists the state names from the interacting Quick Codes component. |
Local Type |
The local type value. |
City/Town |
The city or town at which the work location is situated in the specified country and state. |
Postal Code |
The postal index code of the work location. |
Phone 1 |
The first telephone number of the work location. |
Phone 2 |
The second telephone number of the work location |
Phone 3 |
The third telephone number of the work location |
Fax 1 |
The first fax number of the work location. |
Fax 2 |
The second fax number of the work location. |

Website |
The web address of the work location. |
Use the “Contact Information” fields to edit the details of the contact person of the work location.
Contact Person |
The name of the contact person. |
Phone |
The phone number of the contact person. |
Fax |
The fax number of the contact person. |
Mobile |
The mobile phone number of the contact person. |

Comments |
The comments entered pertaining to the specified details. |
Select the book icon beside the “Remarks” field. The system displays a dialog box containing the remarks specified earlier, if any.
You can view and edit the content.
Select the “OK” pushbutton to save the details and return to the previous page.
Select the “Cancel” pushbutton to return to the previous page without saving the details entered.
You can modify the work location record using either the “Correct” or “Update” modification options. If you select the “Correct” option, the system modifies the record without changing the effective dates. If you select the “Update” option, you are to provide a new effective from date and time. The existing record will become ineffective from one minute previous to the new effective from value. The system opens a new record effective from the new effective from value specified.
To edit the work location, specify the following:
Modification Option |
Select the required modification option, either “Correct” or “Update” from the drop-down list box. |
New Effective From |
Enter the date from which a new version of the record should be created with the modifications you made. |
Save in Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed. From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to translate the record to this language. |
Applicable to |
Choose the organization unit to which the work location details will be made available. The options in the drop-down list box are described below. |
