Select “Edit Department Hierarchy” from the left pane.
The “Select Department Hierarchy” page appears.
The system displays the following detail at the top right of the page
Date Format |
The date that is applicable to the login user. |
A blank multiline appears, containing the following fields: “Hierarchy Code”, “Hierarchy Short Description”, “Hierarchy Long Description” and a “Select” check box.
To select a Department Hierarchy, enter the following fields:
Organization Structure Unit |
The organization unit in which the organization structure component is deployed. |
Language |
The system displays the language in which the login user logged in. In other words, this refers to the language you selected in the login screen, to access this activity. |

From the drop-down list box, select the language in which you require to edit the record |
Select the department hierarchy record, either through the “Direct Entry” group box or through the “Search Criteria” group box.
Use this method if you know the complete code of the required department hierarchy.
Enter the complete code of the hierarchy in the “Hierarchy Code” field.
Select the “Set Hierarchy Values” hyperlink beside.
The “Set Hierarchy Values” page appears. All details of the selected record are displayed.
To edit the department hierarchy, refer to the topic “Editing a Department Hierarchy”.
Use this method if you know just a few characters of the department hierarchy code. In the search criteria group box, specify the search criteria based on which the system will fetch the records.
To specify the search criteria, you must enter one or more characters that the department hierarchy code contains. Search based on wild card characters is also supported. To narrow your search to the closest matching records, you can also enter search criteria for the short and long descriptions of the department hierarchy.
Enter the following search criteria values, in some or all of the following fields.
Hierarchy Code |
To view all department hierarchy codes containing specific characters, type in a starting range of these characters along with the wild card character *. For example, if you type in DPT*, the system will display all the department hierarchy records having the prefix DPT. |
Hierarchy Short Description |
To view all department hierarchy short descriptions containing specific characters, type in a range of these characters along with the wild card character "*" Examples: *department, depart* and new*department . |
Hierarchy Long Description |
The long description of the hierarchy. To view all long descriptions of the hierarchy, type in a range of these characters along with the wild card character "*”. |
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
Note:
If only one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the
records that satisfy this value.
If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system
will fetch the records satisfying all the specified values.
If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group
box and select the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the
records that are available for the selected organization structure unit.
The system displays the following details in the multiline, for the department hierarchy records that satisfy the search criteria specified.

The unique code of the department hierarchy. |
Hierarchy Short Description |
The short description of the department hierarchy. |
Hierarchy Long Description |
The long description of the department hierarchy. |
Select the data hyperlink on the short description of the required department hierarchy record in the multiline.
The system displays the “Set Hierarchy Values” page, which you can use to edit the details.
Use this page to select a department hierarchy record to edit.
