Ensure that you are in the “Select Department Hierarchy” page.
Enter the complete code of the hierarchy in the “Hierarchy Code” field.
Select the “Set Hierarchy Values” hyperlink beside the hierarchy code field.
The system displays the “Set Hierarchy Values” page.
Use the search facility to fetch the required department hierarchy records in the multiline.
Select the data hyperlink on the short description of the hierarchy in the required department hierarchy record.
The system displays the “Set Hierarchy Values” page.
The system displays the following details at the top of the page.
Organization Structure Unit |
The organization unit in which the organization structure component is deployed to process the organization structure activities for the employment units interacting with it. |
Date Format |
The date that is applicable to the login user. If the user does not define the date format, the system will display the date format applicable to the Employment unit, which is defined in the “Enterprise Model Company Definitions”. |
Hierarchy Code |
The unique code of the selected department hierarchy. |
Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed. From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to retrieve the record in the selected language. |
Effective From Date |
The date from which the selected department hierarchy has been in effect. |
Use the “Language” drop-down list box to specify the language in which you want to view the records and make the changes.
Note: By default, the system displays the language selected from the corresponding drop-down list box in the “Select Department Hierarchy” page. The system maintains the records in all the languages specify at the time of installation. If you select any of the other available languages, the system fetches the corresponding language version of the record.
You can view and edit the following details of the department hierarchy.

Hierarchy Short Description |
A short description of the hierarchy. For example, if you are creating a hierarchy for the different departments in manufacturing, you can specify the short description for the department hierarchy as “Dept. Hierarchy-Manufacturing. |
Hierarchy Long Description |
A more elaborate description of the department hierarchy. For example, if the short description entered is “Dept. Hierarchy-Manufacturing”, you can specify the long description as “Department Hierarchy with regard to manufacturing unit 1”. |
Apex Department |
The department at the top of the department hierarchy. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. |
Select from the “Place Under” drop-down list box, the department to which you want the other departments in the hierarchy to report.
Use the “Department Code” column of the “Reporting Departments” multiline to specify the departments, which should report to the department selected from the “Place Under” drop-down list box. You can access the help page to select the required department code.
Select the “Save” pushbutton at the bottom of the page.
The system places the department specified in the multiline below the department selected in the “Place Under” drop-down list box.
On selecting the “Save” pushbutton, the system also displays the short description of the department corresponding to each department code in the multiline.
Comments |
The comments entered pertaining to the details. |
Select the book icon beside the “Comments” field. The system displays a dialog box containing the comments that were entered previously, if any.
You can view, modify or delete the content.
Select the “OK” pushbutton to save the details and return to the previous page.
Select the “Cancel” pushbutton to return to the previous page without saving the details entered.
Save in Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed. From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to translate the record to this language. |
New Effective From |
The new date from which you want the department hierarchy to take effect. |
Select the “Save” pushbutton to save the changes made.
Select the “Delete” pushbutton to delete the changes.
Use this page to set the hierarchy values of the department hierarchy selected in the “Select Department Hierarchy” page.
