Recording language proficiency information
Use this page to record the details pertaining to the language proficiency of the employee.
Ensure that you are in the "Create employee file" or “Record personal information” page.
Select the “Record language proficiency information” link from the “Record personal information” page.
The “Record language proficiency information” appears.
The system displays the following.
Date Format |
The date that is applicable to the login user. |
The system displays the following in the “Employee Details” group box.
HR Setup Unit |
The HR Setup Unit applicable to the login employment unit. |
Employee Code |
The name and unique code of the employee. The name of the employee is displayed alongside. The system displays the value selected in the “Select Employee” page. |
Employee Type |
The type of the employee’s job. The employee type indicates whether the selected employee is a regular employee or has been hired on contract for a limited period or is a consultant. |
Recording Language Proficiency Information
You can use the “Language Proficiency Details” multiline to record or modify the language proficiency details of the employee.
Enter the following language proficiency details in the “Language Proficiency Details” multiline:
Note: By default, for a new language proficiency information record, the fields and drop-down list boxes will be blank. For an existing record, the system displays the values specified previously.
Language |
The language in which the employee is proficient to read, write or speak. From the drop-down list box, select the required language. |
Proficiency |
The proficiency details for the corresponding language. You can specify whether the employee can read, write or speak in the specified language. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. |
Can Conduct Business |
Specify if the employee is proficient enough in the specified language to conduct business or otherwise. Select “Yes” or “No” from the drop-down list box. “Yes” indicates the employee can conduct business in the specified language, “No” indicates otherwise. |
Mother Tongue |
Specify if the specified language is the employee’s mother tongue or otherwise. Select “Yes” or “No” from the drop-down list box. |
You can enter any comments pertaining to the specified details in the comments field below the multiline:

The comments related to the details entered. |
To enter comments
Select the Book icon beside the “Comments” field. The system displays a dialog box containing the comments that were entered previously, if any.
You can view, modify or delete the content.
Select the “OK” pushbutton to save the details and return to the previous page.
Select the “Cancel” pushbutton to return to the previous page without saving the details entered.
To save the details
Select the “Save” pushbutton to save the details entered.
The following details are displayed in the “Record Statistics” group box.

Created date |
The date on which it was created |
Last modified by |
The name of the person who modified the language proficiency details of the employee. |
Last modified date |
The date on which the language details were last modified. |
