Creating category type

This page allows you to add various category types within a predefined category. Tell me more

Select the “Create Category Type” link under the “Category” business component.

The “Create Category Types” page appears.

Enter the following field in the “Category Details” group box:

Category

Use the drop-down list box to select the category under which the category type is to be created. The system displays the options "Carrier Language", "Carrier Master", "Freight Term", "Inco Terms", "Issued to Location", "Reason Code", "Sales Purpose", "Shipment Type", "Transportation Mode", "Market", "Industry", "Region", "Segment", "Sub Segment", “Customer Group Type”, ”Part Price List Category”, ”Service Price List Category" and "Shipping Label”.

Note: Ensure that for the category “Transportation Mode”, the category types are defined as “Air”, “Rail”, “Road” and “Ship”.

The system displays the following after clicking the “Create Category Type” pushbutton:

Status

The status of the category type defined under the selected category. The system updates the status of the created category type as “Active”.

Enter the following details in the “Category Type Details” multiline:

Default

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes”, to set the category type as default for the selected category. The system lists the options as “Yes” and “No”.

Note: Ensure that, at any time, only one category type is set as default, for a given category.

Category Type	The type of category (Alphanumeric, 5). Mandatory. Ensure that the category type is unique for the selected category and organization unit.
Description	The textual description of the category type (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory.

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to select the category type to be created.
Click the “Create Category Type” pushbutton, to create category type(s) under the selected category.

Note: The system sets the status of the category type as “Active”.

The system displays the following:

Created By	The login ID of the user who created the category type.
Created Date	The date on which the category type was created.

Creating category type – An overview

This page allows you to add various category types within a predefined category. You can enter a unique code and description for the category type. You can also set the created category type as default value for the category. The status of the newly created category type is set as “Active.

You can create various category types for a predefined category.

Select a predefined category in the “Category Details” group box.
Enter the category types for the selected category, in the “Category Type Details” multiline, along with the “Description”.

Set the default category type for a category

You can set the default category type for the selected category.

Set the “Default” drop-down list box in the multiline to “Yes”, to set the category type as default for the selected category.
Set the “Default” drop-down list box to “No”, if you do not wish to set the category type as default.

Note: At any time, only one category type can be set as default.
