This Help page allows you to search and select a cost element and transfer the details to the field where it is required.
You can carry out a search by specifying the range of cost elements that you want to retrieve and the date range during which the cost element is effective. You can also search by specifying the type of the cost element and the login ID of the user who created the cost element. The system retrieves the cost elements based on the search criteria entered. The selected cost element is transferred to the required page, when it is confirmed.
Click the lens icon positioned next to the “Debit Cost Element” field in the “Create Allocation Details” page of the “Cost Allocation” business component.
The “Help on Cost Elements” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a cost element:
Cost Element From |
The starting code in the range of cost element codes that you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 32). |
Note: The code entered in this field must be before the code entered in the “To” field.

The ending code in the range of cost element codes that you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 32). |
Description |
The textual description of the cost element code that you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Effective Date |
Use the drop-down list box to select the date from which the cost element is effective. All the start dates of the MAC periods that have been defined for MAC years that are in the “Open” status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The system displays the earliest “Open” MAC period by default. |
Note: The date selected in this field must be before or the same as the date selected in the “Expiry Date” field.
Expiry Date |
Use the drop-down list box to select the date on which the cost element is to expire. All the end dates of the MAC periods that have been defined for MAC years that are in the “Open” status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The system displays the latest “Open” MAC period by default. |
UOM # |
The code identifying the unit of measurement (Alphanumeric, 10). |
User ID |
The login ID of the user who created the cost element that you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 15). |
Click the “Search” pushbutton to retrieve the search results.
The system retrieves and displays the following in the “Debit Cost Element Details” multiline based on the search criteria entered:

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select a cost element.
Click the “OK” pushbutton.
