Selecting cost center structure for activation or inactivation
This page allows you to search and select a cost center structure for activation or inactivation. Tell me more.
Select the “Activate / Inactivate Cost Center Structure” link under the “Cost Setup” business component.
The “Select Cost Center Structure” page appears.
Enter the following field if you are aware of the code identifying the cost center structure that you want to activate or inactivate:
Cost Center Structure ID |
The code identifying the cost center structure that you want to activate or inactivate (Alphanumeric, 10). |
Select the “Activate / Inactivate” link provided alongside to activate or inactivate the cost center structure.
Enter the following fields in the “Structure Type Details” group box to search for the cost center structure that you want to activate or inactivate. Data entry in the following fields is optional.
Structure ID From |
The starting code in the range of structure codes that you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 10). |
Note: The code entered in this field must be before or the same as the code entered in the “To” field.
To |
The ending code in the range of structure codes till which you want to retrieve (Alphanumeric, 10). |
Structure Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type to which the structure that you want to retrieve belongs. You can select from “Default”, “Alternate” or “All”. The system displays “Alternate” on launch of the page. |
Description |
The description of the structure that you want to activate or inactivate (Alphanumeric, 40). |

Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the structure. You can select from “Active” or “Inactive”. The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page. |
User ID |
The login ID of the user who created the structure that you want to activate or inactivate (Alphanumeric, 15). |
Effective Date |
Use the drop-down list box to select the date from which the structure that you want to retrieve is effective. All the start dates of the MAC periods that have been defined for MAC years that are in the “Open” status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The system displays the earliest “Open” MAC period by default. |
Note: The date selected in this field must be the same or after the date selected in the “Expiry Date” field.
Expiry Date |
Use the drop-down list box to select the date till which the structure that you want to retrieve is effective. All the end dates of the MAC periods that have been defined for MAC years that are in the “Open” status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The system displays the latest “Open” MAC period by default. |
Click the “Search” pushbutton to retrieve the structure details.
The system retrieves and displays the following in the “Structure Details” multiline based on the search criteria entered:

The code identifying the cost center structure. |
Description |
The description of the cost center structure. |
Structure Type |
Indicates the type of cost center structure. It could be “Default” or “Alternate”. |
Status |
Indicates the status of the cost center structure. It could be “Active” or “Inactive”. |

The date from which the cost center structure is effective. |
Expiry Date |
The date till which the cost center structure is effective. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark structures that must not be activated or inactivated.
Note: You can activate only a cost center structure that is in the “Inactive” status.
Click the “Activate” pushbutton to activate the selected structures.
The system updates the status of the structure as “Active”. The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.
Note: You can inactivate only a cost center structure that is in the “Active” status. You cannot inactivate a “Default” cost center structure.
Click the “Inactivate” pushbutton to inactivate the selected structures.
The system updates the status of the structure as “Inactive”. The system stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified details.

Select the “Activate / Inactivate” link at the bottom of the page to activate or inactivate the selected cost center structure.
Selecting cost center structure for activation or inactivation – An overview
If you know the code identifying the cost center structure you can enter it directly. Otherwise, you can carry out a search by specifying the type of the structure that you want to activate / inactivate, the status of the structure and the login ID of the user who created the structure. You can also search by specifying a range of cost center structures that you want to retrieve and the date range during which the structure was effective. The system retrieves the details of all the cost center structures based on the search criteria entered.
This page also allows you to activate multiple cost center structures. You can activate cost center structures that are in the “Inactive” status. The system updates the status of the structure as “Active”. The system also stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified structure details.
This page also allows you to inactivate multiple cost center structures. You cannot inactivate a default cost center structure. You can inactivate cost center structures that are in the “Active” status. The system updates the status of the structure as “Inactive”. The system also stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the modified structure details.
