Select “View Competency ” from the left pane.
The “Select Competency to View ” page appears.
Specify the following details.
Competency Definition Unit |
The description of the organization unit in which the competency component is deployed. Tell me more. |
Language |
The system displays the language in which the login user logged in. This refers to the language you selected in the login screen, to access this activity. From the drop-down list box, select the language in which you require to view the competency information. |
Select the competency, either through the “Direct Entry” group box or through the “Search Criteria” group box.
Use this method if you know the complete code of the competency.
Enter the complete code of the competency that must be modified or deleted, in the “Competency Code” field.
Select the “View Competency” hyperlink beside.
The “View Competency” page appears. All details of the selected record are displayed.
To view the competency, refer to the topic “Viewing the Competency”.
Use this method, if you know just a few characters of the Competency code or the competency short description. In the search criteria group box, specify the search criteria based on which the system will fetch the records.
To specify the search criteria, you must enter one or more characters that the competency code or description contains. Search based on wild card characters is also supported.
Enter the following search criteria values, in some or all of the following fields.
Competency Code |
To view the competency codes containing specific characters, type in the starting character(s) of the competency codes followed by the wild card *. Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example, CCY*, will search for those competency codes that start with CCY1 Other examples are *CCY1, C*1 and CCY* etc. |
Competency Short Description |
To view all competency short descriptions containing specific characters type in the starting character/s of the short description followed by the wild card *. Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example, Com*, will search for those competency short descriptions that start with Com*,. Other examples are *Skills Markng*S, and *Union Nego* etc. |
Status |
The completion status of the competency record. Indicates if the definition of the competency has been competed or otherwise. The drop-down list box displays the following value: “Completed”, “Pending”. If you select “Completed”, the system searches among competency records that have been completely defined. If you select “Pending”, the system searches among competency records that are still being defined. From the drop-down list box, select the required value. |
Select the “ Search” pushbutton.
Note: If only one search
criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the records that satisfy
this value.
If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch
the records satisfying all the specified values.
If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group box and select
the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the records that are
applicable to the selected competency definition unit.
The system displays the following details in the multiline, for the competency records that satisfy the specified search criteria.

The code of the competency. |
Competency Short Description |
A brief description of the competency. |
Competency MDL |
The minimum desired level(MDL) of a competency indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in an employee. For example, if the MDL for the competency “Communication Skills” is 3 or 4, it indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in the employee. In this example, the maximum value of the competency is set as 5, in the system parameters. |
Status |
The completion status of the competency record. “Completed” indicates that the competency definition has been completed. “Pending” indicates that the competency is still being defined. |
Select the hyperlink on the short description of the required competency record.
The system displays the “View Competency” page which you can use to make the necessary changes
