Ensure that you are in the “Select Competency Class for Editing” page.
Enter the complete code of the required competency class in the “Competency Class Code” field.
Select the “Edit Competency Class” hyperlink beside.
The system displays the “Edit Competency Class” page, which you can use to make the necessary changes.
Use the search facility to fetch the required competency class record in the multiline.
Select the hyperlink on the short description of the required competency class.
The system displays the “Edit Competency Class” page.
The system displays the following details at the top of the page.
Competency Definition Unit |
The description of the competency definition unit selected in the previous page. |
Competency Class Code |
The code of the competency class selected in the previous page. |
Specify the following detail.
Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed.

From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to retrieve the record in the selected language. |
You can edit the following details of the competency class record.
A short description of the competency class. For short description, you can specify an abbreviation for the competency class description, a short form of it or the full description itself. For example, if the description is “Behavioral Traits”, you can specify the short description in an abbreviated form as “BT” or enter a short form for the description as “Beh. Trts” or “Behvl Traits” etc., or write the full description itself. | |
Competency Class Long Description |
A more elaborate description of the competency class. For example, if the competency class is “Behavioral Traits” for which you have already specified the short description as “Behvl Traits”, you can specify the long description as “Behavioral Traits with respect to Quality Management” or “Behavioral Traits with respect to employee motivation” etc.,. By default, the short description will be displayed in this field if you do not enter any value. |
Inactive |
Indicate if you want the details of the competency class to be active and available for use in other activities or otherwise selecting the check box. By default, the system displays the status previously specified. |
Select the “Inactive” check box.
When you save the details, the system will maintain the details in inactive status, which means the details will not be available for use in other activities.
If the details are already in inactive status, the check box will display checked.
Select the check box to make it blank. Note that a blank check box indicates that the details are

Any additional comments you want to enter about the competency class details. |
Select the book icon beside the “Comments” field.
The system displays a dialog box containing the comments previously specified, if any.
You can view, add to, edit or delete the content.
Select the “OK” pushbutton in the dialog box to save the changes and return to the previous page.
Select the “Cancel” pushbutton to return to the previous page without saving the changes you made.
Save in Language |
The language you selected in the previous page is displayed. From the “Language” drop-down list box, you can select any other language, to translate the record to this language. |
To save the changes
Select the “Save” pushbutton at the bottom of the page.
Select the “Delete” pushbutton at the bottom of the page.
