Select “Create Competency Class ” from the left pane.
The “Create Competency Class” page appears.
Specify the following details.
Note: It is mandatory to specify values for the “Competency Unit”, “Competency Class Code” and Competency Class Short Description” details.

Select the organization unit in which you must create and define competency classes. |
A unique code to identify the competency class. | |
A short description of the competency class. For short description, you can specify an abbreviation for the competency class description, a short form of it or the full description itself. For example, if the description is “Behavioral Traits”, you can specify the short description in an abbreviated form as “BT” or enter a short form for the description as “Beh. Trts” or “Behvl Traits” etc., or write the full description itself. | |
Competency Class Long Description |
A more elaborate description of the competency class. For example, if the competency class is “Behavioral Traits” for which you have already specified the short description as “Behvl Traits”, you can specify the long description as “Behavioral Traits with respect to Quality Management” or “Behavioral Traits with respect to employee motivation” etc., to make the description more clear. |
Inactive |
Indicate if you want the details of the competency class to be active and available for use in other activities. If not, click the check box. By default, the status will be active. |
Specify the other details of the competency class like the code, description etc.
Select the “Inactive” check box.
When you save the details, the system will maintain the details in inactive status, which means the details will not be available for use in other activities.
By default the system maintains the details in active status. Note that a blank check box indicates that the details are active and available for use in other activities.

Any additional comments you want to enter about the competency class details. |
Select the book icon beside the “Comments” field.
The system displays a dialog box in which you can enter the comments.
Select the “OK” pushbutton in the dialog box to save the changes and return to the previous page.
Select the “Cancel” pushbutton if you want to cancel the details entered.
Select the “Save” pushbutton at the bottom of the page.
