While you are working in the “Create" or the "Edit Competency” page and you cannot recall the competency element codes, you can launch the “Help on Competency Element” page.
Through this help page, you can specify wild card search criteria for the “competency element code” and “competency element short description”. The system displays all the competency element records that satisfy your search criteria.
The system fetches the details of the competency element records that you select viz., the competency element code, competency element description etc., to the corresponding columns in the multiline in the “Create Competency" or the "Edit Competency” page.
Ensure that you are in the “Create Competency" or the "Edit Competency” page.
Select the help icon in the “Competency Element Code” column of the multiline.
The “Help on Competency Element” page appears.
The system displays the following details at the top of the page.

Competency Definition Unit |
The organization unit in which the competency component is deployed. |
|
Language |
The language in which the user logged in. |
|
Competency Code |
The unique code of the competency being defined. |
|
Competency Description |
The description of the corresponding competency code. |
|
Competency Class Description |
The name of the competency class for which you want to map the competency elements. |
Use the “Search Criteria” group box to specify wild card search criteria for the Competency Element Code and Competency Element Short Description.
The system lists in the “Search Results” multiline, the competency element records that satisfy the combination of search criteria specified.

Competency Element Code |
Enter the unique code of the required competency element or specific search criteria for the element code. For example, if you specify the search criteria as 2*, the system fetches the competency element records whose code begins with 2, as in, 21, 22, 23 etc. |

Competency Element Short Description |
Enter the short description of the required competency element or a specific search criteria that would fetch all the competency elements that closely match the search criteria. |
Note: If no search criteria are specified, the system displays all the available competency element records.
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
All the competency element records that match your search criteria will be displayed in the “Search Results” multiline below.
Given below is a description of the fields in the records in the multiline.

Competency Element Code |
The code of each competency element that satisfies your search criteria. |

Competency Element Short Description |
The description of the competency element. Minimum Desired Level The minimum desired level of the competency element. If the maximum value is set as 100 in the system parameters, the system displays the minimum desired level assigned to the corresponding competency element during the “Create Competency Element” activity. |
Select the check box that corresponds to the required competency element record details, by clicking inside it.
Select the “OK” pushbutton below the multiline.
The “Create Competency”or the "Edit Competency" page reappears, with the selected competency elements records inserted in the corresponding multiline.
You can now enter the following fields for these competency elements, in the” multiline: “Minimum Desired Level”, “Weightage” and “Weightage (In %)”.
