Recording resource usage details for a work order
This page allows you to enter the resource usage details for the task or work order. Tell me more.
Select the “Record Resource Usage” link at the bottom of the “Report Work Execution Information” page.
The “Record Resource Usage Information” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date and time fields must be entered. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Work Order Details” group box:
Visit Package # |
The visit package to which the work order is associated. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The aircraft registration number to which the work order is associated. |
Title |
The textual description of the visit package. |
Work Order # |
The work order number for which the resource usage details must be entered. |
Job Type |
The type of the job, which could be “On-Wing”, “Component Removal” or “Aircraft”. |
Work Center # |
The work center where the work order is performed. |
Enter the following in the “Task Details” group box:
Task # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the task for which the resource usage details are to be entered. If the “Task Reporting” option is set to “Assigned Employees” in the “Set Options” activity, the system lists only those tasks in the work order, which have been assigned to the currently logged in user. Otherwise, the system lists all the tasks in the work order. The system also lists other additional tasks reported for the work order. The system also lists other additional tasks reported for the work order. Leave this field blank if you wish to enter the resource details for the work order. |
The system displays the following fields on clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton:

The revision number of the task. |
Task Description |
The textual description of the task. Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following:
Resource Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the resource for which the details are to be added or modified. The available options are “Skills”, “Equipment”, “Tools”, and “Others”. The system sets the field to “Tools” by default. |
Click the “Get details” pushbutton to retrieve the resource details that are already defined for the work order, task and resource type combination. The system also retrieves the usage details, if they have already defined for the resource.
Enter the following in the “Resource Details” multiline:
Resource # |
The resource required for completing the task or work order (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. The resource of type “Skills” must have been defined in the “Maintain Skills“activity of the “HR Set Up” business component and resource of type “Tools”, “Others” and “Equipment” must have been defined in the “Work Center” business component. The status of the resource must be “Active”. For each resource type, the resource number must be unique within the multiline. Help facility available. |
Note: You cannot modify the resource number that has already been reported.
The system fills in the following field on clicking the “Update Resource Usage” pushbutton:

Enter the following:
Resource Object # |
The number identifying the resource object (Alphanumeric, 40). The number should have already been defined for the resource in the “Associate Work Center Attribute” activity of the “Work Center” business component and the status should be “Active”. |
Time Unit |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the unit of measurement for the resource time, which could be “Minutes”, “Hours” or “Days”. The system sets the field to “Hours” by default. |
Used Duration |
The number of hours, minutes or days for which the resource was utilized to complete the task (Decimal). Mandatory. |

The resource hours is calculated as the difference between the “From Date” and “From Time” and “To Date” and “To Time”. If “From Date” and ”From Time” fields are left blank, the system assumes the schedule start date and time for calculating the resource hours. | |
From Date |
The actual date from which the visit package has utilized the resource (Date Format). |
From Time |
The actual time from which the visit package has utilized the resource (Time Format). |
Note: If the “From Date” and “From Time” fields are left blank, the system automatically calculates the dates, if the “To Date”, “To Time” and “Resource Hours” fields are entered. Otherwise, the system defaults the schedule start date and time of the task as the “From Date” and “From Time”.
To Date |
The actual date until which the visit package has utilized the resource (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the “From Date” field is entered. |
The date entered in this field must be later than or equal to “From Date” or later than the scheduled start date of the task. | |
To Time |
The actual time until which the visit package has utilized the resource (Time Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the “From Time” field is entered and “Time Unit” field is set to “Hours” or “Minutes”. If the “Time Unit” field is set to “Hours” or “Minutes”, the time entered in this field must be greater than the time entered in the “From Time” field. Also, the time entered must be earlier than the closed date of the work order if the “Job Status” of the work order or task is “Reversed”. |
Note: If the “To Date” and “To Time” fields are left blank and if the “From Date”, “From Time” (if these fields are not entered, the schedule start date and time is considered) and the “Resource Hours” field is entered, the system automatically calculates the “To Date” and “To Time”.
Resource Usg. Comments |
Any general comments or remarks regarding the usage of the resource for the task or work order (Alphanumeric, 255). |
The system displays the following:
Last Updated Date |
The date on which the last updation was done. |
Note: The system ensures that there is no work delays reported for the work order and the task combination, for the starting and ending date and time specified here.
Note: Atleast one row should be entered in the multiline.
Click the “Update Resource Usage” pushbutton to update the resource usage information.
Note: On updating the resource usage, the cost of the resource used for each work order is recorded in the corresponding finance books.
The system performs the following on clicking the “Update Resource Usage” pushbutton:
Updates the resource details for the task and work order combination. If the “Task #” field is left blank, the system updates the resources details for the work order.
Sets the work order or task to “In-Progress” status.
If there is no actual start date of the work order or task, the system updates the actual start date for the work order or task with the earliest date reported in the “From Date” field in the multiline.
If the date entered in the “To Date” field of the multiline is later than the actual end date of the work order or task, then the system updates the “To Date” field with the actual end date.
Sets the last updated date to the current server date.
Recording resource usage details for a work order – An overview
This page allows you to enter the resource usage details for the task or work order. You can select the task for which you wish to define for the resource usage details.
Resource objects are the identifiable units of a resource. For example, if lathe is a resource then the individual serial number of the lathe is a resource object. You can enter the resource code and resource object against each resource type. You can also specify the period for which the resource object was used, by entering the starting date and time and the ending date and time.
When resource usage details are updated, the system automatically changes the task status and the work order status from “Scheduled” to "In-Progress".

Set the “Resource Type” drop-down list box to “Skill” to report skill type resource usage.
Set the “Resource Type” drop-down list box to “Tools” to report the tools utilized.
Set the “Resource Type” drop-down list box to “Equipment” to report the equipment utilized.
Set the “Resource Type” drop-down list box to “Others” to report other type of resource utilized.
