Assigning work orders to the employee
This page allows you to assign multiple work orders or tasks to the employee selected in the “Select Employ. Tell me more.
Select the “Assign Work Order / Task(s)” link in the “Select Employee” page.
The “Assign Work Order / Task(s)” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date and time fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Employee Details” group box:
Employee # |
The employee selected in the previous page. |
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. Zoom facility available. |
Primary Skill # |
The primary skill of the employee, which could be “Inspector”, “Mechanic” or “Others”. |
Work Center # |
The work center to which the employee is attached. |
Enter the following fields:
From Date |
The starting date in the range of assigned dates (Date Format). The system retrieves the work orders and tasks assigned to the selected employee starting from this date. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders from the current server date. |
To Date |
The ending date in the range of assigned dates (Date Format). Ensure this date is equal to or greater than the “From Date”. The system retrieves all the work orders and tasks assigned to the selected employee till this date. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the work orders or work order tasks for the specified range of dates.
Enter the following fields in the “Default Details” group box:
Assign : From Date & Time |
The default date and time from which the work order or task is assigned to the selected employee (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “From Date” and “From Time” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. This type of updation is useful, if you wish to assign a large number of work orders or tasks for the same date and time. |
Assign : To Date |
The default date and time till which the work order is assigned to the selected employee (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “To Date” and “To Time” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. |
Hours / Day |
The total number of hours in a day, for which the work order is assigned to the employee (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. The system updates this value in the “Hours / Day” field in the multiline, if it is left blank. |
Assignment Comments |
Any additional comments pertaining to the employee work assignment (Alphanumeric, 255). Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following fields in the “Work Order / Task Details” multiline:
Work Order # |
The number that identifies the work order that you need to assign to the selected employee (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Ensure the work order is already defined in the “Create Work Order” activity of the current business component. Help facility available. |
Note: You cannot modify a work order that is already assigned to the employee. You cannot assign a work order, which is in the “Cancelled”, “Completed”, "Pre-Closed" or “Closed” status.
Seq # |
The sequence in which the tasks should be performed while executing the work order (Integer). |
Task # |
The number that identifies the work order task that you need to assign to the selected employee (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. Ensure the work order task is already defined in the “Create Work Order” activity of the current business component and the transient status of the WO task is “Null”. Help facility available. |
Note: You cannot modify a work order task that is already assigned to the employee. You cannot assign a work order task, which is in the “Cancelled”, “Completed” or “Closed” status.
You cannot assign workorder whose job status is “Fresh”, if the “'WO Assignments Prior to Scheduling” field is set as” Not Allowed” in the “Set Option” activity of the current business component.
The system displays the following fields:
Est. Elapsed Time |
The time estimated to complete the execution of the work order. |
Job Status |
The status of the work order. |
User Status |
The user-defined status of the work order. |
Enter the following fields:
From Date |
The date from which the work order is assigned to the employee (Date Format). If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “From” date value from the “Default Details” group box. |
From Time |
The time from which the work order is assigned to the employee (Time Format). If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “From” time value from the “Default Details” group box. |
To Date |
The date till which the work order is assigned to the employee (Date Format). Ensure this date is greater than or equal to the “From Date”. If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “To” date value from the “Default Details” group box. |
To Time |
The time till which the work order is assigned to the employee (Time Format). If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “To” time value from the “Default Details” group box. |
Note: Ensure that this field is not left blank, if the “To Date” is entered. |

Hours / Day |
The total number of hours per day the work order is assigned to the employee (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. |
Note: If this field is left blank, then the system takes the “Standard Hours” as identified in the “Create Employee Assignment” activity of the “Employee Information” business component. If the employee calendar does not exist, then it takes the value as set in the “Work Hours/ Day” field of the “Maintain Standard Calendar” activity of the “Common Masters” business component.
The system displays the following fields:
Assignment Type |
The type of assignment, that is, whether the work order is assigned to the employee directly or through the work group. |
Visit Package # |
The visit package for which the work order is raised. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The number that identifies the aircraft for which the work order is raised. |
Priority # |
The number that identifies the urgency level of the work order. |
Task Description |
The textual description of the task. |
Work Order Description |
The textual description of the work order. |

Enter the following fields in the “Change Options’ group box:
Re-Assign To : Employee |
The code that identifies the employee, if you wish to re-assign the work orders in the multiline to an employee other than the selected employee (Alphanumeric, 40). Ensure this employee is already defined in the “Create Employee Record” of the “Employee Information” business component and is in the “active” status. If a value is entered here, ensure that no leave is approved for the employee for any time duration or date falling within the date and time range assigned to the employee for performing the work order. Help facility available. |
Change to : User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined status of the work orders. The system lists all the “active” quick codes of type “User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the current business component. Leave this field blank, if you do not wish to change the user-defined status of the work orders. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the work orders for re-assigning or to view the skills assigned or required for the work order.
Click the "Delete" icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the work order selected in the multiline.
Click the “Assign” pushbutton to assign the work orders to the employee.
The system assigns the work orders to the employee, only if there is no leave approved for any time duration or date falling within the date and time range required for performing the work order. If you have entered the re-assignment details, the system re-assigns the selected work orders to the new employee selected. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date of the work order.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “View Employee Loading” link at the bottom of the page to view the employee load.
Select the “View Skill Assignments” link at the bottom of the page to view the skills assigned for the selected work order.
Select the “View Skill Requirements” link at the bottom of the page to view the skills required for the selected work order.
Assigning work orders to the employee – An overview
This page allows you to assign multiple work orders or tasks to the employee selected in the “Select Employee” page.
You can enter the employee assignment details by entering the task associated to the work order or the work order itself, in the multiline. You can enter details such as the date and time for which the employee is assigned, time unit and the number of hours for which the employee is assigned in a day. You can assign the employee to the same task more than once on different assignment dates.
“Create Work Order” activity. The work order must NOT be in the “Cancelled”, “Completed” or “Closed” status.

You can assign multiple work orders or tasks to an employee.
Enter the work order(s) or work order task(s) to be assigned to the employee.
Enter the start date and time, from which you wish to assign the employee, in the “Work Order / Task(s) Details” multiline.
Enter the end date, till which you wish to assign the employee, in the “Work Order / Task(s) Details” multiline.
Enter the number of hours per day the employee is assigned to the work order or task.
Click the “Assign” pushbutton, to assign the employees to the work order or task.
