Authorizing work order
If the work order requires authorization, then it has to be authorized before it enters the planning stage. Tell me more.
Select the “Authorize Work Order” link under the “Hangar Work Order” business component.
The “Authorize Work Order” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date field is displayed. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a work order. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Display Option |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you need to retrieve work order or work order tasks. The system provides the options, “By Work Order” and “By Task”.By default, the system sets the field to “By Work Order”. |

Work Order # |
The number of the work order that you need to authorize, return, hold or release (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the work order number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders that are similar to the number entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the aircraft registration number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders or work order tasks associated with the aircraft whose number is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank to search for all work orders or work order tasks, irrespective of the aircraft. |
Visit Package # |
The number identifying the visit package (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work orders or work order tasks that are associated with the visit packages whose number is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank to search for all the work orders or work order tasks, irrespective of the visit packages. |
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center, to which the work order or work order tasks you need retrieve, is attached. The system lists all the 'active' work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders or work order tasks, irrespective of the work center. |
Adv. Search ID |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the code that identifies a set of advanced search options to retrieve the work order or work order tasks. The system lists all the advance search IDs for the login user in the login organization unit. The system retrieves all the work orders or work order tasks based on the filter criteria specified in the advanced search criteria. Leave this field blank, if you wish to enter the search criteria fields. |
Select the “Edit” link alongside, to edit the advance search options.
Transient Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the transient status of the work order. The system provides the option, “Hold”. If you select “Hold”, the system retrieves all the work order whose transient status is “Hold”. The system sets the field blank by default. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the work orders, irrespective of their transient status. |
Sch Start Date: From |
The starting date, in the range of scheduled start dates, on which the work order is planned to be started (Date Format). The system lists all the work orders that have scheduled start dates on or after the date entered in this field. |
Sch. Start Date: To |
The ending date, in the range of scheduled start dates, on which the work order is planned to be started (Date Format). The system lists all the work orders that have scheduled start dates on or before the date entered in this field. |
Note: Ensure that the “From” date is not later than the “To” date.
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer who owns the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the Work Order irrespective of the customer number entered here. |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer owning the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the name in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the Work Order irrespective of the customer name entered here. |
Note: The system retrieves only those work orders whose owning agency number and owning agency name matches with the customer number and the customer name entered in the above fields.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to search for the work orders.
Note: The system retrieves only those work orders, which are in “Fresh” status. The system retrieves the details according to the option selected in the “Display Option” field.
If the above fields are left blank, the system lists all the work orders created in the login organizational unit.
The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

The task associated to the work order. This field appears blank if you have set the " Display Option " field to "By Work Order". |

The number that identifies the task to which the work order is associated. |
Status |
The status of the task associated to the work order. This field appears blank if you have set the " Display Option " field to "By Work Order". |
Transient Status |
The transient status of the work order. |
User Status |
The user-defined status of the task. This field appears blank if you have set the " Display Option " field to "By Work Order". |
Visit Package # |
The number that identifies the visit package to which the work order is associated. |
Sch. Start Date |
The date on which the work order is planned to be started. |
Sch End Date |
The date on which the work order is planned to be completed. |
Est. Man. Hrs |
The total man-hours estimated to complete work order execution. |
Job Type |
The job type of the task, which could be “Aircraft”, “On-Wing” or “Component Removal”. |
Work Order Total Cost Estimates |
The total estimated cost that will be incurred on the work order. If you have retrieved work order tasks, this field will contain the total cost that will be incurred on the work order task. |
Currency |
The basic currency for the login organization unit. |
Enter the following, if you wish to authorize the work order:
Authorization Comments |
Any additional comments pertaining to the authorization of the work order (Alphanumeric, 255). |
The system displays the following:
Task Description |
The textual description of the task. This field appears blank if you have set the " Display Option " field to "By Work Order". |
Work Order Description |
The textual description of the work order. |
Task Count |
The number of tasks associated to the work order. |
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer, who owns the aircraft. |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer owning the aircraft. |
Note: The "Customer #" and "Customer Name" fields are applicable only when the aircraft is not self-owned and the customer details are recorded in the system.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work order or work order task that you wish to authorize, return, release or hold.
Enter the following:
Authorization |
Use the drop-down list box and select the option “Customer Authorization Required”, if the authorization of the customer is required for the work order. Mandatory. Else, select the option “Not Required”.The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Def. Auth. Comments |
Any additional comments pertaining to the authorization of the work order. |
Click the “Authorize” pushbutton if you wish to authorize the selected work order or work order task.
The system ensures that:
the authorization value is set as “Pending Customer Authorization”.for the selected Work Order (s) with Customer Order reference, if Approval of Additional Work scope is identified as “Required” in the Customer Order business component.
the Authorization values is selected as “Not Required” for the selected Work Order (s) with Customer Order reference, if Approval of Additional Work scope is identified as “ Not Required” in the Customer Order business component.
Note: For the Work Order (s) having Customer Order reference, if the “Approval of Additional Work scope” is identified as “As Required” in the "Customer Order" business component, then the authorizer can select any value in the “Authorization” drop-down list box.
The system updates the comments and sets the status of the selected work order or work order task to “Authorized”. When all the tasks are authorized, the status of the work order is changed to “Authorized”. If the transient status of the selected work order is “Hold”, the system removes the status. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
Note: If the “Authorization comments” for any of the rows in the multiline is left blank, the system updates the authorization comments with the value available in the “Def. Auth. Comments” field.
For the work orders authorized, the system updates the status of the work units as follows:
If the Authorization Status of the Work Unit (s) is “Pending Authorization” and if the value selected in Authorization combo is “Not Required”, then the system updates the Authorization Status as “Authorized”.
If the Authorization Status of the Work Units is “Pending Authorization” and if the value selected in Authorization combo is “Pending Customer Authorization”, then the system updates the Authorization Status as “Pending Customer Authorization”.
Click the “Return” pushbutton to return the selected work order or work order task.
The system sets the status of the selected work order to “Returned”. However, you cannot return a work order whose transient status is “Hold”. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
Click the “Hold” pushbutton to hold the selected work order or work order task.
The system sets the status of the selected work order to “Hold”. However, you cannot hold a work order, which is already in the “Hold” status. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
Click the “Release” pushbutton to release the selected work order or work order task, which is in “Hold” status.
The system sets the status of the selected work order to “Released”. You can release a work order whose status is “Hold”. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Work Order” link at the bottom of the page to edit the work order details.
Select the “Set Advanced Search Criteria” link at the bottom of the page to set advance search criteria for searching work order.
Authorizing work order – An overview
If the work order requires authorization, then it has to be authorized before it enters the planning stage. This page allows you to authorize the work order. You can search and select the work orders that you wish to authorize. You can authorize only those work orders that are in the “Fresh” status.
You can return work orders in this page. However, you cannot return a work order whose transient status is “Hold”.
You can also “hold” or “release” work orders, in this page. You can release a work order in the “Hold” status.

The work order or the tasks associated to it must be authorized before execution.
Use the “Authorize Work Order” page to search and select the work order that you need to authorize.
Click the “Authorize” pushbutton, to authorize the selected work orders.
You can return a work order, which is not in the “Hold” status.
Use the “Authorize Work Order” page to search and select the work order that you wish to return.
Click the “Return” pushbuton, to return the selected work orders.
You can hold a work order, which is in the “Fresh”, “Authorized”, “Scheduled” or “Inprogress” status.
You can release a work order, which is in the “Hold” status.
Use the “Authorize Work Order” page to search and select the work order that you wish to hold or release.
Click the “Hold” pushbuton, to hold the selected work orders.
Click the “Release” pushbuton, to release the selected work orders.
