Viewing the strategies of storage in the warehouse
This page allows you to view the system or the procedure adopted for storage. Based on the warehouse selected, you can view the parts that are placed in it and the strategy adopted for placement of the part in the warehouse. You can also view the default zone and bin for the part.
Select the “View Storage Strategies” link at the bottom of the “View Storage Allocation"page.
The “View Storage Strategies” page appears
The system displays the following in the “Warehouse Information” group box:
Warehouse # |
The number identifying the warehouse for which the storage strategies are displayed. |
Description |
The textual description of the warehouse. |
Warehouse Type |
The type of the warehouse to be allocated, which could be “Normal” or “Free”. |
Warehouse Category |
The category to which the warehouse belongs. |
Enter the following field in the “Search Criteria” group box:
Part # |
The unique code identifying the part (Alphanumeric 45). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the records containing the part number entered here. |
Part Description |
The textual description of the part (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the records containing the part description entered here. |
Stock Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the stock status of the part. The system lists all the "Active" stock statuses as defined in the "User Defined Stock Status" business component. The system leaves this field blank by default. |
Trading Partner # |
The unique code identifying the trading partner which could be supplier code or customer code (Alphanumeric 45). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the records containing the trading partner number entered here. |
The system displays the following in the “Storage Strategy Information” multiline:
Part # |
The number identifying the part for which the storage strategy is displayed. |
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Stock Status |
The stock status of the part. |
Trading Partner Type |
The type of the trading partner, which could be “Supplier” or “Customer”. |
Trading Partner # |
The unique code identifying the trading partner. |
Partner Name |
The name of the trading partner. |
Placement Strategy |
The method adopted for the placement of the part in the warehouse, which could be “Fixed Storage”, “Storage Proximity”, “Existing Stock Addition”, “Next Empty Storage”, or “Manual”. |

Default Placement Zone |
The priority in which the part must be received in the zone. |
Default Placement Bin |
The bin in which the part is placed, by default. |
Default Picking Zone |
The zone from which the part is picked for issue, by default. |
Default Picking Bin |
The bin from which the part is picked for issue, by default. |
Picking Strategy |
The picking method of the part, which could be “LIFO”, “FIFO”, “Shelf Life Expiry”, “Min Remaining Life“, “Max Remaining Life“, “Min Lot“, “Default Zone/Bin“ or “Manual”. |
