You can modify the details of the various bins present in a “Normal” zone. Tell me more

The “Bin Information” page appears.  

The system displays the following field:

Date Format

The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the Enterprise Modeling business component by default.

The system displays the following fields in the “Warehouse Details” group box:

Warehouse #

The warehouse to which the bin belongs.

Description

The textual description of the warehouse.

Warehouse Type

The type of the warehouse, which could be “Normal” or “Free”.

Warehouse Category

The category of the warehouse.

Enter the following fields in the “Zone Details” group box:

WH - Zone #

The zone to which the bin belongs. The system lists all the zones defined for the warehouse in the alphabetical order.

 

The system displays the following in the “Zone Details” group box.

   

WH – Zone Description

The textual description of the zone.

 Click the “Get Details” push button to, get the bin details.

The system displays the following field in the “Bin Details” multiline:

Bin #

The bin for which the details are to be modified.

Bin Description

The textual description of the bin (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory.

Capacity Constraint

Use the drop-down list box to modify the capacity accommodated in the bin, which could be one of the following:

 

  • Volume – when capacity of the part is stored in volume.

 

  • Weight  - when capacity of the part is stored in weight.

 

  • Quantity – when capacity of the part is stored in quantity.

 

  • Not Applicable – when the capacity settings are not required for the zone.

 

The system sets the default value as defined in the “Capacity Constraint” field of “Modifying Zone information” page.

Note: The capacity value cannot be less than the existing stock level.  The stock level can be obtained from the “Stock Maintenance” business component.

Volume

The volume of the stock stored in the bin (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Volume”.

Volume UOM

The unit of measurement in which the volume of the part is measured  (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status.

 

If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume” and when this field is left blank, the system displays the “Volume UOM” of the respective zone

For conversion of “Volume UOM” in bin to “Volume UOM“ in zone, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.

Weight

The weight of the part stored in the bin (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Weight”.

Weight UOM

The unit of measurement in which the part is weighed (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status.

 

If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight” and when this field is left blank, the system displays the “Weight UOM” of the respective zone.

For conversion of “Weight UOM” in bin to “Weight UOM“ in zone, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.

Proximity Indicator

Use the drop-down list box to specify the position of the stock to be placed in the bin, which could be one of the following:

 

  • Near - if the stock is to be placed near the entrance of the zone.

 
  • Medium – if the stock is to be placed in the center of the zone.

 

  • Far – if the stock is to be placed away from the entrance of the zone. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Placement Priority

The priority in which the parts must be received in the bin (Integer). The number entered here should be greater than zero. If you do not want to enter any value, then the system inserts a number greater than zero.

Picking Priority

The priority based on which the parts must be issued from the bin (Integer). Ensure that the number is greater than zero. If you do not want to enter any value, then the system inserts a number greater than zero.

Status

Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the bin. The system lists the options “Active” or “Inactive”.

 

Set the status as “Inactive” if you wish to disable the bin from future reference in other activities.

 

Ensure that the following conditions are fulfilled when you disable a bin:

 

  • The bin does not have any stock.

 

  • There are no transactions in the “Draft” or “Fresh” status against the bin.

 

  • The warehouse is not currently offline.

File Name

The name of the file used for document reference that is associated to the bin (Alphanumeric, 50).

Remarks

Any additional comment pertaining to the modification of bin details (Alphanumeric, 255).

The system displays the following fields in the “Bin Details” multiline:

Created By

The login ID of the user who defined the bin details.

Created Date

The date on which the bin details were defined.

Last Modified By

The name of the user who last modified the bin details.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the bin details were last modified.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Modifying bin information – An overview

Edit Warehouse Information- A summary of the activity

You can modify the details of the various bins present in a “Normal” zone in “Active” status. You can change the status of the bin to “Inactive” only when there is no stock. You can also modify the details such as the bin description, picking priority and the status of the bin.

Specify “Picking Priority” for a bin

You can specify the priority for the various bins in the zone. At the time of issuing a particular part or variant from the warehouse, the availability of the part will first be checked in the various zones, and then in the bins based on the priority assigned

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Specify status for a bin

You can specify the status of the bin, which could be “Active” or “Inactive”.

Modify the capacity of the stock

You can modify the capacity constraints of the stock to be stored in the bin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Modify the “Placement priority” for a bin

You can modify the priority in which the parts must be received in the bin. At the time of receiving a particular part from the zone, the parts will be placed in various bins based on the priority specified here.
