Entering serial number and lot number details in a return slip
This page allows you to enter the serial number and lot number details of the part, which is to be returned. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Serial No / Lot No Information” link at the bottom of the “Create Return Slip” page.
The “Edit Serial Number & Lot Number Information” page appears.
Note: This page can be invoked only if the return slip contains parts that are "Lot Controlled", "Serial Controlled", or "Lot & Serial Controlled".
The system displays the following in the “Return Details” group box:
Return Slip # |
The number identifying the return slip. This number is automatically generated and displayed by the system at the time of creating return slip, with the numbering type selected. |
Return Basis |
The basis of return, which could be “Returnable”, “Core Returnable” or “Excess”. |
Enter the following in the “Issue Details“ group box:
Line # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the line number of the return slip for which the serial number and lot number details must be entered. This is provided because it is possible that the part numbers can repeat in the Issue Part # column if the part has been issued with different Issue Stock Status |
Note: The system lists all the line numbers, which are part of the Return Slip, containing parts that are "Lot Controlled", "Serial Controlled", or "Lot & Serial Controlled".
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton, to retrieve the details of the selected line number.
The system displays the following:
Issue Part # |
The number identifying the issued part. |
Issue Warehouse # |
The number identifying the warehouse from where the material was issued. |
Part Description |
The description of the part that is issued. Zoom facility available. |
Part Type |
The type of the part to be returned, which could be any one of "Raw Material”, “Component”, “Expendable”, “Tool”, “Consumable” “Kit” or “Miscellaneous” |
Issue Stock Status |
The status of the material as it is issued. |
Issue Qty. |
The quantity of the part issued by the warehouse. |
Return Stock Status |
The stock status of the parts which is being returned. |
Return Qty. |
The quantity of the part, which is being returned to the warehouse |
The system displays the following field in the “Return Part Details” multiline:
Note: If the component specified in the return slip has been removed using the replacement type “Remove Only” in the “Record Component Replacement Information” page of the “Hangar Work Reporting” business component, the system automatically retrieves the corresponding return part details in the multiline.

The number identifying the serial-controlled part, to be returned (Alphanumeric, 40). Entry in this field is mandatory if the part is “Lot & Serial Controlled”. Ensure that the return serial number is a valid serial number for the returned part, as defined in the “Stock Maintenance” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: Leave this field blank for the part that is “Lot Controlled”. Ensure that the serial number is not repeated in the multiline, if the part is “Serial Controlled”. |

Return Lot # |
The number identifying the lot-controlled part, to be returned (Alphanumeric, 18). Entry in this field is mandatory if the part is “Lot & Serial Controlled”. Ensure that the return lot number is a valid lot number for the returned part, as defined in the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: Leave this field blank for the part that is “Serial Controlled”.
Ensure that the lot number is not repeated in the multiline, if the part is “Lot Controlled”.
Also ensure that the serial number and lot number combination is not repeated in the multiline, if the part is “Lot & Serial Controlled”.
Return Qty. |
The quantity of the part, which is being returned to the warehouse for which the material slip is created (Integer). Ensure that the value entered is positive. |
Note: Ensure that the return quantity is “1”, if the returned part is of part control type “Serial Controlled” or “Lot & Serial Controlled”. Also ensure that the return quantity is greater than zero, if the returned part is of part control type “Lot Controlled”. If the returned part is of part control type “Lot Controlled”, then the system ensures that the returned quantity is not greater than the issued quantity. Note: You cannot modify the serial number, lot number and return quantity, that are automatically retrieved for the returned parts from the “Create Return Slip” page or from the “Record Component Replacement Information” page of the “Hangar Work Reporting” business component. The lot number of the returned part. |
Click the “Edit Information” pushbutton to store the serial number and lot number details.
Note: The system displays an error message, if any other concurrent user attempts to simultaneously modify the serial/lot number details of the return slip.
If the return stock status is specified as “PBH” in the “Issue Details” group box, the component specified by the part number and serial-lot number combination must contain the possession status as “PBH” and ownership as “Supplier” in the “Aircraft” business component.
Similarly, if the return stock status is not “PBH” in the “Issue Details” group box, the component specified by the part number and serial-lot number combination must contain the possession status other than “PBH” and ownership other than “Supplier” in the “Aircraft” business component.
On clicking the "Edit Information" pushbutton, the system performs the following:
If the issue basis of the returned part is “Returnable”, the system increments the “Returned Quantity” and decrements the “Pending Return Quantity” in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page of the “Hangar Work Reporting” business component.
If the issue basis of the returned part is “Non-Returnable”, then the system updates the part quantity details based on the following conditions:
If the returned quantity entered in this page is less than the “Pending Return Quantity” specified in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page, the system increments the “Returned Quantity” and “Returned Quantity – Excess” and decrements the “Pending Return Quantity” and “Pending Return – Excess” in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page.
If the returned quantity entered in this page is greater than or equal to the “Pending Return Quantity” specified in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page, the system increments the “Returned Quantity” and “Returned Quantity – Excess” and updates the “Pending Return Quantity” and “Pending Return – Excess” to “0”.
If the issue basis of the issued part is “Core Returnable”, then the system updates the part quantity details based on the following conditions:
If the returned part number and serial number combination is the same as the issued part number and serial number combination, the system increments the “Returned Quantity” and “Returned Quantity – Excess” and decrements the “Pending Return Quantity” and “Pending Return – Excess” in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page.
If the returned part number and serial number combination is different from the issued part number and serial number combination, the system increments the “Returned Quantity” and “Returned Quantity – Core” and decrements the “Pending Return Quantity” and “Pending Return – Core” in the “Record Parts Consumption Information” page.
To proceed carry out the following:
Select the “Print UnServiceable Tag” link at the bottom of the page, to print a tag for the unserviceable parts.
Select the “Print Serviceable Tag” link at the bottom of the page, to print a tag for the serviceable parts.

You can enter the serial number and lot number details for a part returned.
In the “Line #” field, select the line number of the return slip, which contains the part for which you wish to enter the serial or lot number details.
Enter the “Return Part #” field in the multiline.
Enter the serial number of the returned part in the “Return Serial #” field.
Enter the lot number that is returned, in the “Return Lot #” field.
Entering serial number and lot number details in a return slip – An Overview
This page allows you to enter the serial number and lot number details of the part, which is to be returned, only if the issued part is either serial number controlled or lot number controlled or serial & lot number controlled.
If the “Return Basis” of the part is:
Returnable – The system displays issued part as the “Return Part #”, issued serial number as the “Return Serial#” and issued lot number as the “Return Lot#”.
Core returnable – The system displays the serial and/or lot number of the parts that has been replaced (removed components) as the “Core Returnable” and the serial and/or lot number of the parts that has been issued and not used as the “Excess Returnable”.
Typically Core Returnable is applicable for the part types “Component” and “Expendable”.
Source of Information:
Component - The system retrieves details such as part number, serial number and component number from the component removal or replacement details recorded for the reference document (work order).
Expendable - The system retrieves the information from the spare part fitment information details recorded for the reference doucuments (only if the spare part information is available in the work order ).
Note: Spare parts should have been defined for the aircraft in the "Edit Spare Part List For Aircraft" page of the "Configuration" business component.
Excess – The system displays all the issued part numbers, serial numbers and/or lot numbers
You can select the part that has to be returned and delete all the remaining issued part details in the multiline.
