This activity allows you to define the different sources from which a part can be obtained. A part could be obtained from sources such as “Manufacturer”, “Supplier” or “Industry”. You can define such sources in this activity. These source types are used to identify the other part numbers created for the part in the “Maintain Other Part Nos.” activity.
Select the “Define Source Type” link under the “Part Administration” business component.
The “Define Source Type” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the “User Preferences” business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
Enter the following fields in the “Source Type Details” multiline:
Source Type |
The type of source from where a part can be obtained (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. Ensure that the source type is unique. Typical source types could be “Manufacturer”, “Supplier”, “Customer”, “Industry”, “Competitor” etc. |
The system displays the following in the “Source Type Details” multiline:
Created By |
The login ID of the user who defined the source type. |
Created Date |
The date on which the source type was defined. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark a source type for deletion.
Click the “Delete” pushbutton to delete the selected source type.
The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the modification details.
Click the “Define Source Type” pushbutton to store the source types entered in the multiline.
The system updates the “Created by” and “Created date” fields when the source type is defined for the first time.
