Selecting a part for updating kit composition details
This page allows you to search and select a part number to update the kit composition details. Tell me more.
Select the “Maintain Kit Composition” link under the “Part Administration” business component.
The “Select Part #” page appears.
Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you are aware of the exact part number for which you want to update the kit composition details.
Part # |
The number identifying the part for which you want to update the kit composition details (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Select the “Maintain Kit Composition” link provided alongside to update the kit composition details.
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for the part number for which you want to update the kit composition details. Data entry in the following fields is optional.
Part # |
The number identifying the part for which you want to update the kit composition details (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the part numbers that are similar to the value entered here. |
Manufacturer Part # |
The manufacturer part number of the part (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the part numbers that have manufacturer part numbers similar to the value entered here. |
Part Description |
The description of the part for which you want to update the kit composition details (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the part numbers that have part description similar to the value entered here. |
Key Word |
The key word of the part for which you want to update the kit composition details (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the key word in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the part numbers that have key words similar to the value entered here. |
Part Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the part for which you want to update the kit composition details. The system lists all the part categories that have been defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity, that are in “Active” status. |
Reference Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the reference status of the part for which you want to update the kit composition details. The reference status of the part could be “Under Creation” or “Active”. Leave the field blank, to retrieve all the part numbers irrespective of their reference status. |
Strip Part # |
The stripped number of the part without any special characters (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the parts having strip part number that is similar to the value entered here. |
Note: Leave all the fields blank, if you want to retrieve all the part numbers available in the database.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to retrieve the search results.
Note: The system retrieves the details of only those parts which are of part type “Kit”.
The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline, based on the search criteria entered.

Click the hyperlinked part number in the multiline, to update the kit composition details.
Selecting a part for updating kit composition details – An overview
If you know the exact part number, you can enter it directly. Otherwise, you can carry out a search based on the part number, the part number issued by the manufacturer, the description of the part, the key word identifying the part, the type of the part, the category of the part and the reference and planning status of the part.
The system retrieves all the part numbers, which are in the “Active” status, based on the search criteria entered.
