Faults encountered during airline operations are codified and listed in the Fault Isolation Manual. The causes for a particular fault are also coded as fault codes and each cause code is identified with a cause description. The cause code and description are associated with fault codes and are listed in the fault isolation manual. A user can refer to the fault isolation manual to identify a fault and the associated cause code and description.
This page allows you to retrieve the details of the cause codes that are already defined in the “Fault Isolation Manual” business component. You can carry out a search using the cause code and cause description. The system displays the cause codes that match the filter criteria and which are in “Active” status.
Click the lens icon positioned next to the “Cause Code” field in the main screen.

Enter the following in the "Search Criteria" group box, to search for a cause code. Entry in these fields is optional.
ATA # |
The number identifying the ATA chapter under which the cause code is grouped (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all cause codes belonging to this ATA chapter. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the ATA chapter.. |
Fault # |
The number that identifies the fault for which cause codes must be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all cause codes belonging to the fault code specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the fault code. |
Keyword |
The key word identifying the fault code for which cause codes must be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the keyword in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves the all cause codes associated to keywords that match the description entered here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the keywords to which they are associated. |
Fault Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the fault for which cause codes must be retrieved. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the fault category. |
Fault Code Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of fault code for which cause codes must be retrieved. The system retrieves cause codes belonging to the specified fault code type. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the fault code type. |

The cause code for which the details must be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the "*" character. Base Aircraft Model # |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the aircraft model for which cause codes has to must be retrieved. The system lists all the aircraft model numbers defined in the “Aircraft” business component that are in the “Active” status. The system retrieves all cause codes that are applicable to the selected aircraft model number. Leave this field blank if you want to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the aircraft model number. |
Model Description |
The description of the base aircraft model number (Alphanumeric,150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all cause codes that are applicable to the aircraft model description specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve cause codes irrespective of the model description. |
