  • Others – Select this option if the deferral type for the discrepancy is not “MEL” or “CDL”.

By default, the system sets this field to "MEL".

Deferral Item #

The deferral item number against which a discrepancy has been reported (Alphanumeric,150). If you have set the “Deferral Type” field to “MEL” or “CDL”, then it is mandatory to specify the deferral item number. Ensure that the deferral item number belonging to MEL or CDL is defined in the “Configuration” business component.

Help facility available.

Deferral Limit Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify the deferral limit type. Mandatory. The system displays the following options:

  • “Calendar Limited” - Select this option if the maintenance report has to be deferred based on the time specified.

  • “Usage Limited” – Select this option if the maintenance report has to be deferred till the value specified for the usage parameter is reached.

  • “Usage & Calendar Limited” – Select this option if the maintenance report has to be deferred  till the specified time as well as the specified parameter value is reached.

By default, this field is set to “Usage Limited”.

Deferral Limit Basis

Use the drop-down list box to specify the deferral limit basis. The system displays the following options:

  • “Whichever is earlier” – If you select this option, then the maintenance report will be deferred based on the time specified or usage specified, which terminates earlier.

  • “Whichever is later” –  If you select this option, then the maintenance report will be deferred based on the time specified or usage specified, which terminates later.

By default, the system leaves this field blank.

Limit Control

Use the drop-down list box to specify the limit control. The system displays the following options:

  • “Hard” - Denotes that the discrepancy must be strictly processed within the deferred date or value.

  • “Suggested” - Denotes that a superior can suggest a further deferral for the discrepancy.

By default, this field is set to “Hard”.

Note: If the “Deferral Type” field is set to “MEL”, then the Limit Control field must be set to “Hard”.

If the “Deferral Type” is set to “MEL”, the system retrieves the MEL category for the deferral item number entered. For the MEL category, if no values are entered, the system retrieves the “Limit Type”, “Limit Basis”, “Deferral Limit” and “Deferral Duration” as defined in the “Configuration” business component under the MEL category against  the respective fields.

Time Unit

Use the drop-down list box to specify the unit of time for deferring discrepancies. The system displays the options “Hours”, “Days” and “Months”. By default, this field is set to “Days”.
