Selecting MEL category for modification

You can select a MEL category for modification in this page. You can enter the MEL category code directly or search for it. The search criteria would be the MEL category code, status, limit type and limit basis. The system displays the MEL categories that match the search criteria specified.

Select the “Edit MEL Category” link under the “Configuration” business component.

The “Select MEL Category” page appears.

Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry ” group box, if you are aware of the MEL category code:

MEL Category

The code identifying MEL category that you wish to modify (Alphanumeric, 30).

Select the “Edit MEL Category” link provided alongside to edit MEL category details.

Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for MEL category. Data entry in the fields is optional:

MEL Category	The code identifying MEL category that you wish to modify (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the MEL category code in full or specify it partially using the “*” character.
Status	Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the MEL category. The system lists the options “Active” and “Inactive”. Leave the field blank to retrieve the MEL categories irrespective of the status. The system leaves this field blank by default.
Limit Type	Use the drop-down list box to select the type of deferral limit associated to a MEL Category based on which the MEL Item number gets deferred. This could be "Time Limited", "Usage Limited" or "Time and Usage Limited". The system retrieves the MEL categories with the Limit type specified here. The system leaves this field blank by default.
Limit Basis	Use the drop-down list box to specify the limit basis for the time and usage based deferral. The system lists the options “Whichever is earlier” and “Whichever is later”. The system retrieves the MEL categories with the limit basis specified here. The system leaves this field blank by default.

Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results

The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

MEL Category	The MEL category defined in the system.
Description	The textual description of the MEL category.
Limit Type	The type of deferral limit associated to a MEL Category based on which the MEL Item number gets deferred. This could be, "Time Limited", "Usage Limited" or "Time and Usage Limited".
Limit Basis	The limit basis for the time based deferral. The system displays one of the options “Whichever is earlier” and “Whichever is later”.
Status	The status of the MEL category, which could be “Active” or “Inactive”.

Click the hyperlinked MEL category code in the multiline to modify the MEL category details.
